sundarbans national park SUNDERBAN means pretty (sunder) forest (ban) in Bengali. The Sundarbans mangrove forest is known to be the largest such forests in the world. Located on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers in the Bay of Bengal. It was listed as world heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. Rivers in the Sunderbans are different from the ones we used to see in the rest of India. Rivers are broad and interconnected with each other with so many water channels. All are natural.
