  • - Prenatal care is when you get checkups from
    a doctor, nurse, or midwife throughout your
    pregnancy. It helps keep you and your future baby
    healthy.
  • Why is prenatal care important?
  • -Prenatal care is an important part of
    staying healthy during pregnancy.  
  • -Your doctor, nurse, or midwife will monitor
    your future babys development and do routine
    testing to help find and prevent possible
    problems.
  • -These regular checkups are also a great
    time to learn how to ease any discomfort you may
    be having, and ask any other questions about your
    pregnancy and the birth of your future baby.

  • When do you need to start having prenatal care
    appointments?
  • -You can start getting prenatal care as soon
    as you know youre pregnant.
  • - Its actually best to see a doctor BEFORE
    you get pregnant this is sometimes
    called pre-pregnancy care or preconception
    planning. But if thats not possible, just begin
    prenatal visits as soon as you can.
  • How often will I have prenatal care visits?
  • - The typical prenatal care schedule for
    someone whos 18-35 years old and healthy is
  • - Every 4 or 6 weeks for the first 32 weeks
  • - Every 2 or 3 weeks for the 32nd-37th weeks
  • - Every week from the 37th week until delivery
  • Your doctor might ask you to come in for
    check-ups more often if you have a high-risk
    pregnancy.

  • What happens during your first prenatal care
    appointment?
  • - Your first prenatal care visit is usually the
    longest one doctor talk about your medical
    history,physical exam,blood,urine tests to make
    sure youre healthy.
  • - This can include
  • - measuring your height, weight, blood
    pressure, breathing, and pulse
  • - breast exam
  • - pelvic exam
  • - Pap test
  • - test sexually transmitted
    infections (like chlamydia, gonorrhea,
    syphilis, and HIV)
  • - screening for diabetes, anemia, hepatitis
    B, and rubella
  • -doctor may talk about diet and vitamin
    supplements.

  • VISIT SCHEDULE
  • - 4 Weeks
  •  For registration of Pregnancy
  • - 7 Weeks 
  • Blood tests are carried out at this phase.
    This early pregnancy stage is critical phase so
    sonography is also done
  • - 9 Weeks
  •   Visit is scheduled for detailed discussion of
    reports. A sonography is done to ensure good
    growth of the foetus.
  • - 12 weeks
  • At this stage NT scan is done.
  • - 16-18 weeks 
  • At this stage detailed screening is done. So
    a blood test is carried to check any abnormality.
    Anomaly scan is done.
  • - 18-20 weeks 
  • At this stage detailed sonography is done to
    ensure the development of the baby.
  • - 24 weeks 
  • Weight, pulse, blood pressure and urine
    examination is done. This is the part of reagualr
    antenatal check-up.
  • - 28 weeks 
  • Blood test CBC, fasting 2hr PP blood sugar
    urine is done.

  • Routine Antenatal check up is done.
  • - 34 weeks 
  • Growth scan is done to check foetuss growth.
  • - 36 weeks 
  • Antenatal check up. NST is performed to
    confirm foetuss well being.
  • - 37 weeks onward 
  • Routine Antenatal check up is done. Other
    checks ups are done if required
