Furnished Versus Unfurnished Apartments in Alberta
2
  • Moving away to school is exciting and comes with
    many new responsibilities and experiences.
Choosing where you will live is one of these new
responsibilities, and it's something that you
will want to give a great deal of consideration
to. Where you live can have a big influence on
how well you do in school and your happiness
    overall.

3
  • If you haven't already, you will soon discover
that you have many options for student housing.
While some students prefer to be on campus, like
in a University of Alberta residence, others
prefer the freedom that comes with living
off-campus. Another major decision is whether you
will live in a furnished or unfurnished
apartment. There are pros and cons for either
    choice - let's take a look

4
Unfurnished Apartments at a Glance
  • Some students can't wait to move into an
apartment and to decorate it according to their
style. Being able to choose your colour scheme,
the furniture and kitchen essentials that you
will want and need can feel like your first real
foray into adulthood. There's also often a lot
more options for unfurnished apartments, which
may make it easier for you to find a place in an
    area that you like.

5
  • The downside for some students is that
furnishing an apartment can be expensive, if you
don't have access to hand-me-down furniture and
other items. You also have to figure out how you
will get all of your furniture to the new
apartment, which may mean renting a moving van or
truck and enlisting the help of your family
members or friends to help you move everything.

Furnished Apartments at a Glance
  • When shopping around for places to live, you
will probably find that there are some Edmonton
furnished suites that are conveniently located
close to your campus. The obvious benefit of
furnished suites is that you won't have to move
much of anything in the way of furniture to your
new apartment. This saves you the hassle, time
    and money.

7
  • Places like Horizon Residence, for instance,
offer students suites that come fully equipped
with beds, living room furniture and kitchen
essentials. Of course, if you're really keen to
decorate your own place, you may not have quite
as much freedom, but you can always bring items
to add your own touches to the space, such as
    photos, posters, and more.

8
  • No matter which type of living space is best for
you, be sure to start your search early so that
you have the best options available. As you get
closer to the school year, spaces fill up more
    quickly.
