4Wireless Networking Basics
- Windows usually connects to networks in this
order Ethernet, WiFi and then Mobile
broadband. Whenever you connect to a new WiFi
network, its added and stored in the list of
profiles by Windows 10. The details stored in
the profile would include its name, password,
encryption method used, SSID, etc.

6Causes of Poor Signal-to-Noise Ratio
Poor Connections - Wireless
- Distance between the user and the Wireless Access
Point - Interference from sources such as
- Cordless phones
- Microwave ovens

- Over 40dB Extremely fast Connection - 5 Bars
- 25 dB to 40 dB Very Fast Connection - 4 Bars
- 15 dB to 25 dB Low Signal, usually fast
connection 3 Bars - 10 dB to 15 dB Very Slow connection 2 Bars

8Optimize Wireless Adapter Settings for Best Wi-Fi
Performance
- If your computer drops Wi-Fi or shows no Wi-Fi
available, you could change the wireless adapter
power settings to get the best Wi-Fi
performance. The default power option is "Power
saving mode", which will result in a Windows 10
Wi-Fi problem while connecting to distant
Wireless Access Points. Take the following steps
to fix the Wi- Fi issue.

12Wireless Network Report
The wireless network report is one of the more
useful tools in Windows 10 that can help you
diagnose Wi-Fi connection problems.

13- Analyze the wireless network report
- To create the wireless network report
- In the search box on the taskbar, type Command
prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command
prompt, and then select Run as administrator gt
Yes. - At the command prompt, type netsh wlan show
wlanreport. - This will generate a wireless network report
thats saved as an HTML - file, which you can open in your favorite web
browser.

14The wireless network report contains the
following sections
Wi-Fi summary chart. This chart shows the Wi-Fi
connection sessions that are available in the
report. Select a section in the chart to go to
the corresponding Wi-Fi session shown in the
report. A red circle indicates an error. If you
see one, select it to get information about the
error. Report Info. Shows the date the report was
created and how many days it covers. General
System Info. Contains details about your PC. It
includes the computer name, system manufacturer,
system product name, BIOS date, BIOS version, OS
build, Machine ID, and info about if its MDM
joined.

person who is currently signed in to the PC. It
contains
- Username. Current user signed in to the PC.
- User Domain. The domain the PC is joined to.

23To Change the Preferred Networking Order to IPV4
Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully.
Serious problems might occur if you modify the
registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back
up the registry for restoration in case problems
occur.

25Windows 10 Printing is the same as Windows 8.1
with one exception.
Windows 10 Printing
The management of printing is now controlled by
Print Management console. printmanagement.msc Thi
s console was used in Windows Server for years
and was moved to Windows 10 to enable the
management of Print Servers system wide. The next
slide shows the console.
