• The Cardiology Department at BM Birla Heart
  Research Centre, provides the best of services in

Department of Cardiac Surgery

• The BM Birla Heart Research Centre performs over
  a thousand open heart surgeries in a year. It
  focuses on offering high standards of personal
  care to every patient. A dedicated team of
  cardiac surgeons, cardiac anaesthetists,
  perfusionists and nursing care specialists work
  to ensure successful surgical results.
• The centre is fully equipped and proficient in
  adult cardiac care (acquired heart diseases) and
  paediatric cardiac care (congenital heart
  diseases).
• Minimal Invasive Surgery
• Surgeries such as coronary bypass grafting
  (CABG), valve replacement and closure of septal
  defects (ASD, VSD) in the heart are performed
  with 100 success rate. An incision scar in such
  cases ranges from 1.5 inches to 2 inches on the
  either side of the chest.
• Adult Cardiac Care
• The centre handles all operations, including CABG
  and surgery for heart valves.
• Paediatric Cardiac Care

• The laboratory screens blood for lethal viruses

  (NABH) and Drugs Controller of India (DCI)
  guidelines. It is one of the only few
  laboratories in India that handles Total Core
  Antibody for Hepatitis B.

  to analyse bodily fluids for routine stool and
  urine checkups and pregnancy tests.
• Immunology and Serology Department

  introduced to facilitate medical care during

• Primary Angioplasty
• A coronary angioplasty, also known as
  percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
  (PTCA) or percutaneous coronary intervention
  (PCI), is a surgical procedure that is used to
  widen blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. It
  is a non-invasive form of surgery, which does not
  involve making major incisions in the body. In
  certain emergencies, timely intervention is
  required. Angioplasty done during this phase is
  called primary angioplasty. At BMBHRC, we ensure
  that the time from the door to the needle is less
  than 90 minutes, to ensure that heart muscles are
  not damaged.

• This includes invasive medical procedures like
  cardiac catheterisation, which is done to

• The centre performs electrophysiological
  investigations such as a treadmill test and
  holder monitoring. It has successfully performed
  more than 50,000 tests over 25 years.
• Nuclear Cardiology and General Nuclear Medicine
• BMBHRCs laboratory conducts cardiac scans and
  non-cardiac tests. It also conducts bone, renal,
  thyroid, liver and lung scans.
• Interventional Cardiology
• Highly qualified, full-time consultants in this
  department cater to both paediatric and adult
  services.
