1
Bennett Dental An Emergency Dental Clinic in
Sherwood Park

2
  • Our team provides same-day emergency dental
care. The Bennett Emergency Dental Sherwood Park
team is well-trained to take care of such
    situations.

3
Severe mouth pain
  • If you are in immediate pain, you may need to
seek immediate care. In some cases, pain can
cause nausea, impede motor skills and prevent you
from driving. Prior to visiting, please contact
us by phone immediately or have someone drive you
    to our clinic.
  • If you are bleeding, we advise call emergency
medical services at 911 or Strathcona Community
Hospital at 780-449-5380 (open 24 hours).

4
Acute toothaches or broken teeth
  • Intense pain can follow an injury to teeth that
have been chipped, broken, or dislocated. It is
important that you visit an emergency dental
clinic where immediate care can be provided to
lessen injury and prevent further damage of the
    tooth.
  • Toothaches can also be caused by tooth decay,
abscesses, gum disease, or damaged fillings,
mouth infections, grinding teeth (bruxism), an
abnormal bite and tooth eruptions (in the case of
    babies / young-children)

5
  • In other cases, a patient can experience pains
that feel like toothaches, but are in fact caused
by TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), sinus
infections, ear infections, or muscular tensions.
Pain in the teeth and jaw areas can also be a
symptom of heart disease, and our dentists will
refer you to a physician if they feel you are at
    risk.

6
Toothache Treatment
  • After being admitted, your dentist will perform
a thorough oral examination to determine the
cause of your pain. If required, an x-ray may
need to be undertaken though this is a safe and
normal procedure. For infected teeth, this may
require tooth extraction or a root canal
procedure. Pain medication and antibiotics may
also be prescribed to assist with healing and to
    provide you relief.

7
  • Bennett Dental Sherwood Park will determine what
immediate emergency treatments are required and
follow-up appointments would address treating the
root issue, stabilizing, and putting in place a
    treatment plan.

8
Chipped, Cracked or Broken Teeth Treatment
  • Once you have had an initial oral examination at
an emergency dental clinic, they will determine
if immediate treatment is required or schedule an
appointment. You may be prescribed pain
medication or antibiotics. In most situations for
damaged teeth, an appointment will need to be
scheduled so a full-procedure can be
    administered.

9
Common procedures
  • Filling if there is only small portion of
surface damage or chipping of the tooth enamel,
your tooth can be repaired with a filling. For
visible teeth Bennett Dental can apply
tooth-coloured composite resins as part of the
    filling process known as bonding.
  • Veneers  for larger visible chips and
fractures, restorative materials such as plastic
composites and porcelain can be used to protect
and improve the aesthetics of a tooth.

10
  • Dental Crowns For areas that have seen
significant tooth decay, we can cap your tooth
with a crown that will protect it and improve
    aesthetic.
  • Root Canal In the case for teeth where the
damage is significant enough that it has
penetrated the protective enamel, exposing the
pulp, a root canal may need to be performed.

11
Removing Stuck Objects from Teeth and Gums
  • On occasion, a piece of food or foreign object
can get stuck in-between teeth or gums. Typical
food objects include popcorn hulls, meat fibers,
and seeds. In some cases, pencil ends,
toothpicks, and other materials can get embedded
and become difficult to remove. Generally, these
situations can be taken care of on your own, but
if you find the situation worsening, causing
pain, then we recommend arranging an appointment
where our team has the expertise to help.

12
Cuts and Tissue Injuries
  • For patients who have sustained cuts,
lacerations, scrapes and other soft-tissue wounds
we can assess and treat the entire mouth area
including cheek, and lips. We will also look for
any damage to teeth, musculature and bones. In
the majority of cases, superficial wounds will
heal on their own, but certain cuts may require
    stitches and / or antibiotics.
