Content Writing Everything you need to know
  • WebTrafficIndia.IN is widely referred resource
portal offering tips, tricks and information
related to Search Engine Optimization, Content
Writing, Social Media Optimization and other
    useful internet marketing related things

2
What is Content?
  • As per definition, Content Writing means creating
the writing which appears on websites that are
designed to sell or promote a specific product.
  • I define content as information which users seek
while querying on search engines such as google,
    yahoo, bing, etc.
  • Through content, you are actually defining your
products, services or skills, so as to make
    engagements.

7 Cs of Content
  • Creating a great content which engages readers is
like developing great websites. A compelling
content can help in connecting to the readers
directly. And definitely, content is there for
establishing a communication. There are 7 Cs
which help in creating engaging content which
compels readers to make call to actions.

4
Compelling
  • If we talk specifically of digital content,
drafted to be published over internet, our main
motive is to make engagements. Most of the web
users typically scan the page and only read if
they come across few words which are obviously
relevant to them. In case, they come from search,
they look for the words which they typed into
their queries to determine relevance. In order to
make your content compelling, you need to
highlight those words so that web users easily
    notice these words.

5
Clear
  • Be clear about your objective while writing
content. You should be aware about the purpose of
communicating with the person. Simply, beat about
the bush and try to minimize the number of ideas
in each sentence. You should use the language
which readers can easily understand. Make sure
that people shouldn't have to "read between the
lines" and make assumptions on their own to
understand what you're trying to say.

6
Complete
  • Not only the massage should be clear but it needs
to be complete also. The content should be based
on facts and a complex message needs additional
information and/ or explanation. A clear and
complete subject line will result in better
    communication.

7
Correct
  • Correctness means creating a message that doesnt
have any errors. While drafting content, you
    should double check grammar, punctuation,
spelling, precision and sticking to the facts.
The main object of publishing content is to
connect with someone, to inspire, educate or
    entertain. The grammatically correct written
content surely makes positive impact on the mind
    of the reader.

8
Courtesy
  • Be kind and treat your readers with respect.
While writing dont be rude, pretentious or have
a holier-than-thou attitude. You should use terms
that show respect for the receiver contribute
    towards effective communication.

9
Concrete
  • A thorough research based data is always
appreciated. Try to support your content with
factual material such as research data and
figures. There is nothing like imagination if you
writing content for business correspondence. If
your content is supported by facts and figures,
your audience has a clear picture of what you're
    telling them.

10
Conversational
  • There is no denying the fact that communication
is two way. Dont try to write for search engine
bots only as youre dealing with humans. Dont
try keyword stuffing and like you are conversing
    with your audience.
