Power Yoga
  • Power Yoga is a fitness-based vinyasa
    practice. An offshoot of Ashtanga Yoga, it has
    many of the same qualities and benefits,
    including building internal heat, increased
    stamina, strength, and flexibility, as well as
    stress reduction. Teachers design their own
    sequences, while students synchronize their
    breath with their movement. The original Power
    Yoga was developed and founded by Beryl Bender
    Birch, but is now a term used to describe many
    vigorous vinyasa styles.

Hatha yoga
  • Hatha yoga is a branch of Yoga, one of the six
    schools of Hinduism. The word ha?ha literally
    means "force" and thus alludes to a system of
    physical techniques.
  • In India hatha yoga is associated in popular
    tradition with the 'Yogis' of the Natha
    Sampradaya through its mythical founder
    Matsyendranath. Matsyendranath, also known as
    Minanath or Minapa in Tibet, is celebrated as a
    saint in both Buddhist and Hindu tantric and
    hatha yoga schools. However, James Mallinson
    associates hatha yoga with the Dashanami
    Sampradaya and the mystical figure of Dattatreya.

Iyengar Yoga
  • By paying close attention to anatomical details
    and the alignment of each posture, Iyengar Yoga
    is the practice of precision. Poses are held for
    long periods and often modified with props. This
    method is designed to systematically cultivate
    strength, flexibility, stability, and awareness,
    and can be therapeutic for specific conditions.
    B.K.S. Iyengar founded Iyengar Yoga.

Kundalini yoga
  • What has become known as "Kundalini yoga" in the
    20th century, after a technical term peculiar to
    this tradition, is actually a synthesis of many
    traditions which may include ha?ha yoga
    techniques (such as bandha, pranayama, and
    asana), Patañjali's kriya yoga (consisting of
    self-discipline, self-study, and devotion to
    God), tantric visualization and meditation
    techniques of laya yoga (known as samsketas), and
    other techniques oriented towards the 'awakening
    of kundalini'

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga
  • Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga codified
    and popularized by K. Pattabhi Jois during the
    20th century which is often promoted as a
    modern-day form of classical Indian yoga.
    Ashtanga means eight limbs or branches of yoga
    mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, of
    which asana or physical yoga posture is merely
    one branch, breath or pranayama is another. Both
    Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois, his grandson,
    encourage practice of Ashtanga Yoga - all eight
    limbs. The first two limbs - Yamas and Niyamas -
    are given special emphasis to be practiced in
    conjunction with the 3rd and 4th limbs (asana and
    pranayama)

Bikram yoga
  • Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga that Bikram
    Choudhury synthesized from traditional hatha yoga
    techniques It became popular in the early 1970s.
    All Bikram Yoga Beginning Series classes run for
    90 minutes and consist of the same series of 26
    postures, including two breathing exercises.

Yin yoga
  • Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with
    postures, or asanas, that are held for longer
    periods of timefor beginners, it may range from
    45 seconds to two minutes more advanced
    practitioners may stay in one asana for five
    minutes or more.

Restorative Yoga
  • A restorative yoga sequence typically involves
    only five or six poses, supported by props that
    allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for
    5 minutes or more, restorative poses include
    light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle
    backbends.

Prenatal Yoga
  • Prenatal yoga is a style designed for pregnant
    women to practice, regardless of their due date.
    The mixture of stretching, controlled breathing
    and mental focus offers a variety of benefits to
    expectant mothers. This form of yoga can also
    increase strength and flexibility in the muscles
    used during childbirth.

Anusara yoga
  • Anusara School of Hatha Yoga, also known as
    Anusara Yoga is the successor of a modern school
    of hatha yoga originally started by American-born
    yoga teacher John Friend in 1997. Friend derived
    his style from the Iyengar style of yoga and
    reintroduced elements of Hindu spirituality into
    a more health-oriented Western approach to Yoga.

Jivamukti Yoga
  • The Jivamukti Yoga method is a proprietary style
    of yoga created by David Life and Sharon Gannon
    in 1984. Jivamukti is a physical, ethical, and
    spiritual practice, combining a vigorous hatha
    yoga, vinyasa-based physical style with adherence
    to five central tenets shastra, bhakti, ahimsa,
    nada, and dhyana.

Yoga Conclusion
  • The purpose of Yoga is to create harmony in the
    physical, vital, mental, psychological and
    spiritual aspects of the human being. In the
    foregoing pages of this book, I have described
    the Technique of relaxation in different postures
    viz., standing, lying and sitting postures which
    brings in this harmony. Yoga is not mere practice
    for an hour or two in a day but it is the most
    scientific way of living, all the twenty-four
    hours of the day. During the whole day you may be
    only in one of these three postures and hence a
    skilful adjustment in them will effect the
    required harmony.

Yoga Conclusion
  • "Yogasthah Kuru Karmani- Be established in Yoga
    and do all your duties." "Yogah karmasu
    Kausalam-Yoga is skill in action." Skill here
    means to be in tune with the nature of the
    Supreme Reality. Be a Yogin always, is the loving
    instruction of Lord Krishna. Convert life into
    Yoga, so that you may ensure success in all the
    fields of activity. By regular practice, by using
    your presence of mind, skill and wisdom, you can
    become Yogins and enjoy happiness and peace,
    whatever be the circumstances and conditions in
    which you are placed.
