• You can instantly tell a fake brick slip by its
  colour since its made from concrete or mortar
  and coloured using dyes which lends a faux
  appearance (red appears pinkish). Real brick
  slips, though, are made from clay and dont
  suffer fading.

• The texture is one of the most prized things
  about brick slips. Moulded and shaped by heat, a
  real brick slips textures are rustic, unique and
  authentic. However, fake brick slips feature
  manipulated textures that look unnatural and
  cheap.

• Faux brick slips are sold precast in fabrics,
  which is touted as easy to install. But the truth
  is that installing faux brick slips using
  adhesives is much harder compared to real brick
  slips which come as separate tiles and thus, are
  easier to install.
• Weight
• Real brick slips tend to be heavier than fake
  brick slips with mesh tile substrates. However,
  the higher weight translates into greater
  integrity for the brick slips made from natural
  clay. Needless to say, clay brick slips last
  infinitely longer.
