5Listening
Listening is your first test. It will be for 40
minutes. The Listening Test has four sections.
The difficulty of these sections is progressive
that clearly means the first section is easiest
whereas the fourth one is the most difficult one.
You need to answer 40 questions while you listen
to the audio. The audios are usually monologues
and conversations by native speakers.
6Academic Reading has four sections. These is 1
long passage in each section based upon which you
need to answer 40 questions.

Reading (General)
- General Reading has four sections. Each section
has 1 or 2 texts based upon which you need to
answer 40 questions. The texts are usually taken
from books, magazines, newspapers, notices,
advertisements, company handbooks and guidelines.
The difficulty is ascending.
7Academic Writing also includes two tasks.Task
1 and Task 2 You will have to summarize a text
based on given graph, table, chart or
diagram.Task 2 is of minimum 250 words
discursive essay.

- General writing has two tasks- Task 1 and Task 2
You have a letter in Task 1. The letter can be a
formal or a semiformal or informal letter. In
task 2 there are variety of essays you need to
write in a discursive manner of at least 250
words.
8This module of IELTS will assess the use of
Spoken English. The test has 3 parts and it lasts
for 11 to 14 minutes. The test is recorded.Part
1- This part of the test last for 4 to 5 minutes.
The examiner asks you some questions about
yourself. These questions are not that difficult.
Usually they are about where are you from, about
you work, study, friends, neighbourhood, hobbies,
food, sports, etc.Part 2- This part is an
individual speaking. In this the examiner will
give you a topic to speak , on you will have to
speak for 2 minutes. You have a minute to
prepare. The examiner will not interrupt at all
while you speak.Part 3 This part is a
discussion. In this round the examiner was given
to you 5 to 6 questions based upon the topic
which was given to you in part 2. Make sure you
speak as much as you can.
