Title: The Latest Advantech LoRaWAN Portfolio - Alltronix India
1LoRaWAN is a media access control protocol for
wide area networks that has been designed to
allow low-powered devices to communicate with
internet-connected applications over long range
wireless communications. This is where it gets
its name LoRaWAN or Low Range Wide Area
Network. The LoRaWAN specification defines three
device types Class A, B, and C.
- Ø Class A devices support bi-directional
communication between a gateway and a device,
where uplink messages can be sent at any time.
After an uplink transmission, the device opens
two receive windows at specified times. If the
server doesnt respond in any of these windows,
the next uplink transmission will be waited for. - Ø Class B devices are an extension of the Class A
with an addition of scheduled receive windows
for downlink messages from the server. Here, the
devices periodically open receive windows by
using time-synchronized beacons that are
transmitted by the gateway. - Ø Class C devices are also extensions of Class A,
wherein the receive windows are kept open unless
they are transmitting. This allows for low
latency communication, but the energy consumed
is much more as compared to Class A devices. - ?
- Advantech has expanded its range of wireless
products with the launch of its WISE-6610
LoRaWAN gateway and Wzzard LRPv2 LoRaWAN node.
But, Advantech also understands the increasing
demand for intelligent monitoring and warning
systems, which make replacing and rewiring
existing devices very difficult. This is why it
focuses on use of wireless data communication
solutions that have a rugged enclosure and
flexible software
2design, and it very well understands that such
systems are installed in remote areas and harsh
environments. The Wzzard LRPv2 Node is a LoRaWAN
sensing platform that is designed for usage with
applications ranging from I/O sensor data
management to network protocol conversion. It
can be utilized to form a private sensor network
that yields immediate dividends by cutting
maintenance costs, while increasing overall
productivity. Moreover, this node can connect up
to four sensors simultaneously, and is ideal for
production lines that have sensors, or where
there is limited space for additional devices. It
is designed to be customizable such that it can
accommodate the most sophisticated of monitoring
plans. It also offers high flexibility in both
hardware and software aspects, thus freeing users
from having to deploy an infrastructure-heavy
wireless network. This node has two modes, namely
the sleep mode for when the node is idle, and
the operation mode for data transmission. And, it
also comes with an embedded alarm system to
notify users when a threshold has been exceeded.
All of this helps control the budget by saving
power. The WISE-6610 LoRaWAN Gateway uses the
MQTT protocol to connect to a users
application server or SCADA for data access. It
is designed for long range and low bit rate
communication among connected objects like
battery-powered sensors. Both these innovations
support long range WAN communications, which
means there is no need to pay any kind of
additional telecommunication costs thus
significantly reducing the costs involved.
Moreover, with an IP66 rating, both these devices
are protected against dust and water. You can
