  • Industrial growth in India has resulted in
    increased employment opportunities which
eventually lead to inflated workforce comprising
of both organized and unorganized sectors. This
vast man force, especially the younger
population, females, and individuals employed in
newer occupations and those engaged in the
informal sector are predominantly exposed to
various occupational factors affecting health and
safety at workplace and hence are more
    susceptible to occupational diseases.
  • The estimated workforce in the organized sector
in India is 26.92 million (26,928,000). In 2009,
ADGFASLI estimates there are 270,294 working
registered industrial factories in India with
about 13.1 million (13,100,129) workers who are
being exposed to occupational hazards and safety
issues daily basis. Maintaining the right
Industrial hygiene is an answer to this problem.

  • Industrial Hygiene is a science that also
includes elements of Arts as judgement,
creativity and human interaction. It is into
existence since the 1940s and US was a pioneer in
developing the first professional course related
    to Industrial hygiene.
  • AIHA (American Industrial Health Association)
    defines Ergonomics as the multidisciplinary
Science the primary focus of which is the
    anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control
of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and their risk
factors in the workplace. In 1970, Department of
Labour, United States created Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA) to assure safe
and healthy working conditions for employees by
setting and enforcing standards through extensive
    providing training, outreach, education and
    assistance.

  • The major occupational hazards in India include
    silicosis, muscular-skeletal injuries, coal
    workers' pneumoconiosis, chronic obstructive lung
    diseases, asbestosis, byssinosis, pesticide
    poisoning and noise-induced hearing loss.
    Authorities like National Institute of
    Occupational Health, Industrial Toxicology
Research Centre, are researching issues as
    Asbestos affects, Pesticide poisoning, silicosis
    and Musculoskeletal Disorders.
  • In the SafetyMasterTM, our socially-committed
Team of Experts evaluates your existing Safety
programs to anticipate, recognize and measure the
environmental stressors by visiting your Factory
    premises. Developing a cost-effective control
program based on your specific needs to minimize
your hazard exposure is what we strive for. Our
    recommendations may include-

5
  • Air sampling to evaluate exposure to toxic
gases, vapours, mist, dust and other substances
    and substitutions thereof
  • Occupational noise remediation for Factories
    using high-noise machinery
  • Suggesting work practice alternatives
  • Evaluating the personal protective equipment
and gears and suggesting better alternatives
  • Based on our findings, we offer specialized
services in development and implementation of
    programs related to-
  • -Respiratory protection
  • -Hazard communication
  • -Auditory conservation
  • -Bloodborne pathogen and infections
  • -ergonomic consulting and tools
  • -Radiation cover and remedies

  • Our Safety personnel will constantly monitor the
environment and ensure the adherence to safety
    standards and suggestions provided.
  • While the challenges like asbestos- -silica-lead
poisoning remains at large, in a controlled
environment, it is definitely possible to
minimize the extent of the damage. Maintaining
    good Industrial hygiene means-
  • -More efficient working process with technical
    advancements and improved productivity
  • -Improvement in Worker health and better life
    expectancy
  • -Reduction in number of people leaving due to
    accidents or injuries
  • -lower social and health care costs related to
    labour welfare
  • -Avoiding penal provisions and legal litigations
    related to Law Administration
