The word Mensa has Latin origins. The word itself
means table. What does that have to do with this
genius club? Well, quite a lot, actually. Mensa
is a round table-society where all distinctions
are believed to be irrelevant. This includes
national origin, age, politics, and any other
social or educational distinction. People from
all around the world are welcome to join. Where
Do Mensa Members Meet? With the incentive of
providing a better society, Mensa organizes
various events for its members at both the local
and international levels. Once a year, a large
event called the Annual Gathering is held in
several countries where Mensa has formed
societies, including Great Britain, the US, and
Canada. Every year the Annual Gathering is held
in a different city. Its hosted with numerous
speakers, leadership workshops, childrens
events, and other activities for the members to
engage in and socialize. How To Join Mensa
Specific Mensa Requirements To be eligible to
join Mensa, you must score within the highest two
percent of the general population on an IQ
test. Are IQ tests really the most accurate
measure of intelligence? What is intelligence,
anyway? Thats a whole different kettle of
fish. But rest assured that Mensa actually
accepts a variety of intelligence tests for
membership eligibility, including the Wechsler
Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and the Stanford
Binet Intelligence Scale. Basically, the primary
mensa iq requirement is that you score in the
highest percentiles. So, if you want to join
Mensa, you must take one of these tests.

Currently, Mensa consists of over 134,000 members
in 51 national groups across 100 countries
around the world. You can join a national Mensa
group or you can join Mensa International
directly if your country does not presently have
one.
