Sauber is another team that has a lot of history
in Formula One. Peter Sauber started work on
sports cars back in the 1970s but only entered
Formula One from 1993 onwards. They raced in
other motorsport series before dabbling into
Formula One. Now, in 2019, according to the
latest Sauber F1 news, they will be fielding
Antonio Giovinazzi and the returning Kimi
Raikkonen.

ON-TRACK ACHIEVEMENTS
They had a rocky start, with more retirements
than finishes. But then, in 1995, German driver
Heinz-Harald Frentzen scored a maiden podium in
Italy. Then, in 1996 and 1997, Johnny Herbert
picked up a podium each year, at Monaco and
Hungary respectively. Jean Alesi continued the
trend for Sauber F1 in 1998 at the Belgian Grand
Prix. Then, it was Nick Heidfeld in Brazil 2001,
as he and rookie teammate Kimi Raikkonen helped
the team finish 4th in the championship.

In 2014, Sauber pledged their support behind
Gabrielles Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.
