  • How to Prevent Dry Winter SkinSwitching to a
good moisturizer in winter helps with skin. But
its just a small step in the face of a much
bigger problem. Indoor heat and the dry climate
rob your skin of its moisture. But lucky for you,
here are my tips for preventing dry skin from
    developing in the first place
  • Use a Humidifier Indoors
  • A Stricter Diet
  • Exfoliate
  • Anti-oxidizing
  • Hydrating Face Cream
  • Avoid Dry Cleansers
  • A Nightly Routine
  • Heres how each tip works.

I was on the phone yesterday with my service
provider and I was in a really bad mood. My
internet hadnt been working for an hour. But
before I could get on it, I caught sight of my
face in the hall mirror. Now, Im just your
average girl who likes to take care of her skin.
So imagine my shock when I saw the skin around my
nose and eyes was as dry as a desert! I
immediately forgot about the angry call
to Xfinity customer support and got down to some
emergency skin care.

Use a Humidifier Indoors
The first thing you need to do is prep your house
for winters. The drier the air around you, the
drier your skin will be. You need to maximize the
water in the air in your house. One way to do
this is to place a humidifier in the room you use
the most. In most cases, this is the bedroom.
More moisture in the air means your skin stays
hydrated for longer. Bonus tip keep the heat in
your home at low or medium to prevent extra
dryness in the air.
4
A Stricter Diet
If you want your skin looking fresh, you need to
follow a stricter diet than you normally do in
winters. If you increase your intake of fats,
your skin will likely become less dry. Doctors
recommend a diet thats rich in avocado, olive
oil, and walnuts. But dont think you can
substitute proper skin care with just diet. Keep
alcohol, caffeine and other diuretics to a
minimum. And above all, drink lots of water.
5
Exfoliate
Dry skin will stay dry unless you exfoliate it.
In addition to all your creams and moisturizers,
go for a gentle exfoliating scrub as well. You
need one with mild lactic acid to remove the
dead, dry skin from your face. Use this twice a
week in place of your regular cleanser and see
the difference. However, if your skin is raw or
extremely dry, then avoid the exfoliating scrub.
Use a damp, soft washcloth instead. Now youre
ready to use some moisturizing products.
6
Anti-oxidizing
Using an antioxidant serum in the winters can be
really good to dry skin. Of course, you have to
make sure the serum is alcohol-free, or youll
lose moisture from your skin. Skin gets attacked
just as much in the winters as in the summers.
This causes fine lines, sunspots and other damage
to your skin. Try using a Vitamin C formula for
your skin. Dont forget to put on sunscreen
either, because you want to protect your skin
from free radicals.
7
Hydrating Face Cream
Its time to switch to a heavier face cream than
the one you use for the rest of the year. Creams
tend to work better than lotions. Your new face
cream should have hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
These ingredients protect your skin barrier from
breaking down in winters. Severely dry faces will
need more of this cream, at least twice a day.
8
Avoid Dry Cleansers
In winters at least, you need to get rid of your
cleansers that have dry ingredients. Additives
like fragrances can seriously dry out your skin.
Instead, opt for a chamomile based cleanser or
face wash. Gentle cleansers work best in winters
because they dont suck out the skins natural
oils. These oils protect the moisture in your
skin and you need them in winters.
9
A Nightly Routine
These are all very common problems in winters and
with a little care, you can avoid all of them.
You want to look your best, even when youre
berating ATT Customer Service. So, before going
to bed, you should have a nightly routine
centered around keeping your skin healthy. Once
you have used your face cleanser and antioxidant
serum, its advisable to use a little light
cream. Especially in the area around the eyes and
eyelids. This will help protect your skin from
rashes, eczema or redness. Healthy, moisturized
skin is a pleasure to look at in the winters.
Work on your skin care and be a little cautious
in cold weather to keep glowing.
