• Haridwar literally spells out 'Door of the Lord'

Chandi Devi has goddess Chandi atop the 'Neel
parvat' on the eastern side of the river Ganga
with legend saying that local demon kings Shumbha
and Nishumbha were killed by goddess Chandi. The
main statue was put by the Adi Shankaracharya in
the 8th Century A.D.

Mansa Devi Temple is another highly regarded
place with location completely opposite side to
the Chandi Devi temple. The local saying has it
that those devotees give their offering to the
goddess gets their wishes fulfilled. Maya Devi
Temple is one of the shakti peeth with history
saying that the place where heart and navel of
the Goddess Sati had fallen. Daksheswara temple
in nearby Kankhal is a tribute to King Daksh
being one of the important historical figures in
