About Cassandra Shepard

• Cassandra Shepard is an avid traveler, living in
  numerous locations across the United States and
  in the world. Originally from Louisiana, Shepard
  attended Xavier University in New Orleans for her
  undergraduate program and traveled to New York
  and Sao Paulo, Brazil as part of two exchange
  programs.

• Currently studying for her Ph.D. in
  African-American History at Northwestern
  University, Cassandra Shepard is an already
  prominent scholar in her field. Over her career
  so far, she obtained numerous fellowships and
  grants, such as the TOPS Opportunity Scholarship,
  the Arnold Endowment Stipend, the Coca-Cola
  Hurricane Relief Scholarship, and the Judge
  Richard Gumbel Scholarship.

• In addition to her prolific research in
  African-American Studies, Northwestern doctoral
  student Cassandra Shepard is also a successful
  businesswoman in the natural hair care industry.
  She holds professional credentials as a Louisiana
  Realtor since 2006 and is a member of the Law and
  Society Association and the American Association
  of University Women.

Cassandra Shepards Research Interests

• Cassandra Shepard is a graduate student at
  Northwestern University, slated to complete her
  Ph.D. in African-American History with a
  dissertation titled Salient as Saltwater The
  Post-Colonial in Post-Katrina. Shepards research
  interests include diaspora relations,
  decolonization, the politics of reproduction, and
  disaster theory. She also holds a masters degree
  in Social Sciences with a concentration in
  History and Gender.
