How To Make Your Swimming Pool Eco-Friendly
2
Why Most Pools Are Not Eco-Friendly
  • Pools are of natural energy-absorber in the form
    of evaporation.
  • Pool loses anywhere from ¼ to ½ every day due to
    evaporation.
  • The factor which makes it from being
environmentally friendly is the harmful chemicals
    we use to maintain them.
  • Too much energy is being wasted in order to keep
the water clean and safe, you have to run your
    pump every day.
  • Also while using a heater, the energy usage is
    even higher.

Ways To MakeEco-Friendly Swimming Pools
4
Reduce the Use of Chemicals
  • Chlorine is one of the common chemical that we
use in our swimming pool in high quantity.
  • All you can do is reduce the level of the amount
    of chlorine.
  • Make sure you check your chlorine levels very
    frequently.

5
Pool Pump Timer
  • Mostly we had to turn the pump on and run it for
a certain number or hours a day.
  • And if we forget to shut it off, it will run
longer than the scheduled time. This is by no
means bad for the water, but it does use more
    energy to run than necessary.
  • If we forget to shut it off, it does use more
energy to run than necessary. This is by no means
bad for the water, but its just a wastage of
    energy.
  • A pool pump timer can be set up and run at
intervals during the day, keeping it from running
    continuously.

6
Use Pool Covers
  • Swimming pool water will loose its water due to
    evaporation.
  • When you loose water you will have to replace it,
which means using more resources. Again you will
    have to add more chemicals.
  • The heat will escapes and hence you will have to
run the pump harder and longer which is a wastage
    of energy too.
  • Swimming pool covers can prevent evaporation and
also cut down energy usage by keeping heat in the
pool when its not in use.

7
Keep Your Pool Filled For Long
  • Drain your pool only if you have a black algae
problem that has gotten so far out of hand and
you cant do anything about it.
  • Draining a pool can do more harm causing dry and
    cracked liners and covers.
  • Average pool capacities are about 10,000-25,000
gallons and If you drain and refill it, its a
wastage of huge gallons of water.

8
Place A Windbreak
  • The process of evaporation can speed with the
    wind.
  • Installing a windbreak can help cut down on that.
  • Wind can also cool the water down, forcing your
    pool heater to work harder.
  • We use a fence around the pool as a windbreak
  • Also we can use screens, lattice, shrubs, or any
other material that shields your pool from the
    wind to some extent.

9
Conclusion
  • Make sure that of where you dispose of chemicals
and always use a pool cover when its not in use.
