Significance of Mothers Day Across the World

The celebration of Mothers Day began in 1908
when a peace activist in the US, Ann Jarvis
organized a memorial for her mother. She
organized this to commemorate her mother who had
passed away in 2905 and also to honour all the
mothers of the world. There is a church in West
Virginia, USA called the St. Andrews Methodist
Church which holds the International Mothers Day
Shrine. Ann Jarvis had organized the memorial
event in this very church.

It was due to her efforts that Mothers Day was
first recognized in the USA, and then gradually
spread to other countries of the world. It is
officially celebrated on every second Sunday in
the month of May.

still not as widespread in India as in other
