Introduction -
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC
NET exam on the behalf of University Grants
Commission for the candidates who aspire to
become researcher or lecturer. NTA NET exam is
organized twice in a year in the month of June
and December. It is conducted for 99 subjects
approx. Here we have provided you some key
factors of NET exam which should known by each
UGC NET aspirants.
3UGC NET Exam
Difference with CSIR NET Exam -
- UGC NET and CSIR NET exams have differences in
various terms. UGC NET Exam is conducted by the
National Testing Agency while CSIR NET exam is
conducted by Human Resource Development Group
(HRDG) of Council of Scientific Industrial
Research (CSIR). - Primarily these both exams are having differences
in two areas i.e. Subjects and Exam Pattern.
4UGC NET Exam
Difference with CSIR NET Exam -
- UGC NET Exam is conducted for almost all subjects
of every stream. The Subjects in the NET Exam are
also from the Regional Language. While CSIR NET
exam is organized only for the science stream
subjects. This is the major difference between
both exams. - UGC NET has two papers with the time duration of
3 hours while CSIR NET Exam has only one paper of
3 hours.
5UGC NET Exam
Selection Procedure of UGC NET Exam -
As per the latest notifications, UGC has decided
that 6 of the candidates appearing for the exam
will be declared as qualifying to entry level
post of Assistant Professor and the Reservation
Policy as per the category will be applied to
this 6 qualified candidates. Candidates who
have qualify the Junior Research Fellowship are
eligible for pursue both Research and Assistant
Professor.

Academic Qualification for UGC NET -
- The percentage criteria is given below according
to different categories - For General Category Candidates??55 Aggregate
Marks in Masters Degree - For OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender Category
Candidates??50 Aggregate Marks - Aspirants who enrolled post-graduation can also
apply for the exam.

Age Criteria for NTA UGC NET -
- Along with educational criteria candidates need
to follow age criteria also. - For JRF??Candidates age must not more than 38
Years. - 5 years age relaxation will be provided to SC,
ST, PwD, OBC, Female and Transgender applicants
for JRF. - For Assistant Professor??There is no upper age
limit.
9UGC NET Exam
Validity Period of UGC NET Certificate -
UGC NET Certificate has validity of three years
from the date of issue for Junior Research
Fellowship where it is valid for lifetime for
