Title: What are the Consequences of Dirty Sensors in your Car

1
What are the Consequences of Dirty Sensors in
your Car
2
Nowadays, on average there are almost 30
individual sensors that are used in all modern
cars.
3
These car sensors are used to collect data from
various systems and relay it back to the ECU.
4
When something malfunction in your car, then the
technicians look at the sensors that have an
impact on the problem.
5
Here are the consequences of dirty sensors in
your car.
6
Manifold absolute pressure sensor
7
The Manifold absolute pressure sensor changes the
voltage and frequency of the intake vacuum
depending on the air pressure in the manifold.
8
Whenever the sensor is dirty, it doesn't make the
necessary changes which slow down or speeds up
the ignition timing.
9
Due to this the car will hesitate when you try
to accelerate or go up on an incline.
10
In addition to this, you will also observe poor
overall performance even though the car continues
to run.
11
Oxygen sensor
12
Most of the cars have at least one oxygen sensor
and they are prone to getting dirty as they are
located around the exhaust.
13
The primary responsibility of the oxygen sensor
is to monitor the amount of unburned fuel in the
exhaust system.
14
When they become dirty, they might provide
inaccurate information or none at all.
15
This affects the system's ability to make any
changes in the air-fuel mixture to reduce the
amount that is unburned.
16
Mass airflow sensor
17
The Mass airflow sensor measures the volume and
density of airflow to inform the engine about the
amount of fuel to be added.
18
Whenever the sensor gets dust or dirt on it, then
incorrect information can be sent to the
diagnostic computer.
19
This leads to the wrong amount of fuel being
added which can lead to a host of problems in
your car.
20
Preventive maintenance and servicing is one of
the best methods to avoid any issues with the
sensors of your car.
