- Under section 51, the employees are not supposed
to work for more than 48 hours a week. - Under section 59, the employees should not work
more than 9 hours a day.

- Minimum Wages Act,1948
- Under section 14, the labours are required to be
paid extra for an overtime rate after getting
paid with minimum wage for a fixed period

6LABOUR LAWS IN INDIA REGARDING OVERTIME
- Mines Act,1952
- Section 33 states that if any mine worker works
for more than 9 hours above the ground and more
than 8 hours below or works for more than 48
hours in a week, than the worker is to be paid
with twice the ordinary wage for his/her overtime
period - Also, Section 36 does not allow anyone to work
more than 10 hours a day

- Bidi and Cigar Workers,1966
- Under Section 17 amp 18, No one is allowed to
work for more than 10 hours a day and 54 hours a
week including overtime - The employer who violates the overtime rules
under the above mentioned act will be punishable
