  • Traveling with children and infants
  • If you are traveling with a child or an infant
you are required to present proof of age for the
children under the age of 18. This age proof can
be a birth certificate or school certification.
For families that are traveling with children
under 2 years old can ask to board early at the
gate. Only 1 carry-on diaper bag per child flying
    with an adult is allowed.
  • Kids are divided in two broad categories at
    American Airlines
  • Children
  • Children are kids who are of 2yrs or older.
Children are required to have their own seat, a
ticketed adult fare. The children who are under
the age of 5yrs cant travel alone in any
circumstances. If you don't choose seats in Main
Cabin or Basic Economy, the airlines will assign
seats a few days after you buy your tickets so
children under 15 are seated in the vigilance of
at least 1 adult theyre traveling with.

  • Infants (under 2 years)
  • Infants as young as 2 days old are welcomed at
American Airlines Flights. However, if you're
traveling with an infant less than a weeks age
your Doctor will be required to fill out a
passenger medical form before your flight.
Infants must be accompanied by a major that is 16
years or older or by the infant's parent in the
    same cabin.
  • Seating options for infants
  • Traveling on the lap of the Passengers (lap
child) A parent or guardian (Must be 16 years or
older) may hold the infant on their lap. The
information about the infant must be included in
the reservation by calling American Airlines
reservations. Percentage of adult fare and
    international taxes and may apply.
  • In a reserved seat If the infant is traveling in
their seat, the parent must buy a ticket. If the
infant is not able to travel without child safety
seat than parents or guardians must use a safety
seat approved by the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA). The seatbelt of the infant
must be securely fastened during taxi, takeoff,
landing and whenever the 'fasten seatbelt' sign
    is on.

  • Safety seat requirements
  • The child safety seat can't be used in the rows
on either side of an exit row window seats are
preferred. Choose direction appropriate for the
size of the child to install the safety seat.
Install the seat according to the given
instructions on the label. Assure that the child
must remain in the child safety seat with the
harness fastened during takeoff, landing and
whenever the 'fasten seatbelt' sign is on. Parent
or guardian must have bought a seat for the
child, or a seat must be available next to you.
If an adjoining or unoccupied, the seat is not
available, the gate crew member will check the
safety seat to your final destination.
