What is CANCER
  • Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal
    cells in the body. Cancer develops when the
    bodys normal control mechanism stops working.
    Old cells do not die and instead grow out of
    control, forming new, abnormal cells. These extra
    cells may form a mass of tissue, called a tumor.
    Some cancers, such as leukemia, do not form
    tumors.

  • There are some avoidable causes like smoking,
    tobacco, alcohol, sedentary life style, sun and
    other types of Radiation exposure and viruses and
    other infections.

    cancer, genetic mutations and exposure to

Breast Cancer

  • How to diagnose Breast Cancer
  • Breast cancer can be diagnosed by various tests
    like biopsy, FNAC and mammography. Further tests
    are needed once diagnosis is made are PET CT,
    Blood tests, bone scan, for staging and
    evaluation of treatment.
  • What is treatment of Breast Cancer
  • Treatment of breast cancer is multimodality
    treatment which includes Surgery, chemotherapy,
    Radiation therapy and Hormonal therapy. The
    sequence of therapy depends on the stage of the
    disease.

Cervix Cancer
  • What is cervix cancer
  • This is cancer of mouth of the uterus. This is
    second most common cancer in women.
  • What are symptoms of Cervix Cancer
  • These include excessive bleeding during or in
    between menstrual cycle, bleeding after sexual
    intercourse, post-menopausal bleeding, pain in
    back, pain in lower abdomen.
  • How Cervix Cancer is diagnosed
  • Cervix cancer is diagnosed with tests like
    Biopsy.
  • What is treatment of Cervical Cancer
  • Treatment depends on the stage of disease but
    in most of the stages of cervical cancer the
    Radiation Therapy is best treatment. Rarely
    surgery may be needed for treatment of cervical
    cancer.

Prostate Cancer
  • What is Prostate Cancer
  • It is malignant growth of prostate gland in
    men. This is most common cancer in men. The
    chances of prostate cancer increases as age
    increases
  • Symptoms of Prostate Cancer
  • These include frequent urination, weak or
    interrupted urine flow or the need to strain to
    empty the bladder, the urge to urinate frequently
    at night, blood in the urine, Pain or burning
    during urination, which is much less common.
  • How to diagnose Prostate Cancer
  • Diagnosis is made by biopsy. Serum PSA level is
    often increased in prostate cancer. Sr. PSA can
    be used for screening and monitoring the response
    to treatment.
  • What is treatment of Prostate Cancer
  • Treatment of prostate cancer depends on the
    stage and extent of spread of disease. There are
    different types of treatment available for
    prostate cancer like Radiation Therapy,
    Chemotherapy, Hormonal Therapy and Surgery. To

Colon Cancer
  • What is Colon Cancer
  • It is cancer of large intestine of our body.
    This is the distal part of the intestine.

Radiation Therapy
  • Radiation therapy is the use of radioactive
    rays like x rays, gamma rays and electrons to
    kill cancer cells. These rays selectively kill
    cancer cells and protecting normal cells. Modern
    radiotherapy is highly focused and accurate
    associated with minimum side effects.
  • There are different types of radiation therapy
    like Conventional Radiation Therapy, 3DCRT, IMRT,
    IGRT, VMAT, Stereotactic radiotherapy,
    Stereotactic Radio surgery, Brach therapy.

Chemotherapy
  • Chemotherapy is the use of medicines in the
    form of injections or tablets to kill cancer
    cells. There are many misconceptions about
    chemotherapy. There are different types of
    chemotherapy like Cytotoxic chemotherapy,
    Targeted therapy, Immunotherapy.

These are the medicines in the form of injections
or tablets used to destroy cancer cells.

Palliative Care
  • Palliative care is the treatment of symptoms or
    suffering of patient. Many times, cancer patients
    have intractable pain, discomfort, fatigue or
    some other problems. During routine examination
    and treatment these things can be missed. Also,
    patients who are terminally ill need end of life
    care. We provide complete palliative care to the
    patient.

Cancer Surgery
  • In Cancer surgery tumour is removed by
    Oncosurgeon (Cancer Surgeon) along with normal
    tissue. Cancer surgery should be done by surgeon
    who is qualified in doing Cancer surgery.
