• As I hear the drums beating, I rush down to the
  main gate. Electricity flowing through my veins
  and eyes gaping in awe, every year I spend hours,
  just looking at Ganpati processions. Trucks
  decorated, wearing colours and lights of this
  world, while the band plays a music so powerful
  that I mentally dance for hours. The murti
  (statue) of Lord Ganesha immersed in the best of
  affluence, while people live each and every
  moment of this time, such processions are a treat
  to watch.

  we are hardcore fans of Ganesh Chaturthi, the
  festival that forces the city that never sleeps
  to stop, rest and then work in full swing, only
  to prepare for welcoming their beloved God.

• For 10 days, the whole city dresses in shimmery
  lights and glittery colours. No place is left in
  dark and no lane is deserted. With Ganpati
  Pandals (Tents) established at every corner of
  the city, the God is present everywhere, in
  various forms, to bless his disciples.

• People put their work in the backseat and the
  Lord becomes their topmost priority. Usually an
  impossible phenomenon wherein Mumbaikars stop
  dreaming but start believing, this festival of
  Ganesh Chaturthi comes in as a breather for the
  residents of the city of dreams. The festival

  blends them in the ambience of music and opens
  their eyes to absorb new colours. It teaches them

• On an ordinary day if you ask anyone from Mumbai
  to spare a minute, they will give you 10 reasons
  to evade it. But during these 10 days of the
  festival, these very people spend hours, standing
  in queues, only to see the face of their God.
  This is the passion of Mumbai for Ganesh
  Chaturthi, such is the love of this city for Lord
  Ganesha.

• On the last day of this festival, the whole city
  gets together to see off their saviour, with a
  hope to see him sooner in the next year. This is
  the time of grief and bliss, the very time of
  hope and confidence. People sing, dance and walk
  for miles, carrying the statue of the Lord
  towards the sea, where it is immersed. Though the
  festival ends after 10 days, it leaves behind a
  trace of pure glee to linger around for long.
