History of JIPMER

• JIPMER was established in 1823 by the French
  government in Pondicherry as the Ecole De

Eligibility Criteria for JIPMER

• You have to pass certain eligibility criteria to
  even be able to sit for the exam let alone attend
  your medical undergraduate there. Unlike NEET,
  you only need to have secured a 50 marks
  combined in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in
  your 12th standard to be eligible for the JIPMER
  entrance test. You have to have taken the above
  subjects along with English to be eligible and
  you must be over the age of 17 by the time the
  year ends.

• Foreign nationals are not allowed to answer the
  JIPMER, however, NRIs and OCIs can still take
  the test if they want to. There is no upper age
  limit for the test as long as youre 17 years of
  age while answering the exam.

JIPMER Exam Pattern

• The JIPMER is conducted via offline computer exam
  in the University for their Post Graduate
  Program. In 2019, the exam was help on the 2nd of
  June and in 2020 the exam has been scheduled for
  the second week of June. The exam is split into 5
  different sections such as

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology (Botany or Zoology)
• English and Comprehension and
• Logic and Quantitative Ability

• You have 2 and a half hour to complete the 200
  multiple choice questions from the topics
  mentioned above. The questions are selected based
  of the syllabus covered in 11th and 12th standard
  for the subjects.

• The questions are split into 5 sections with
  Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany or
  Zoology) having 60 questions each, while English
  comprehension and quant ability have 10 questions
  each.
• You get 4 marks for a correct answer and a
  negative mark for every wrong answer. Ideally if
  you are not sure about your answer you should
  avoid that questions as no negative marking is
  considered for blank answers.
