2EXAM PATTERN FOR NDA EXAM
- Many people seem to be confused with two NDA
written exams. The NDA written includes 2 papers
NDA 1 and NDA 2 which consists of mathematics
and General Ability English. Both papers have
the maximum time of 2 hours and 30 minutes,
Mathematics paper Consists of 300 marks
containing 100 questions with the negative
marking of 0.83 marks per question, where general
ability and English includes 150 questions
containing 600 marks with the negative marking of
1.33 marks for General ability and English per
question, with the total of 900 Marks . NDA
examination is administered by union public
service commission (UPSC). The exam is organized
offline twice a year consisting of two papers NDA
1 (mathematics) and NDA 2 (General ability and
English).

1. The age limit of the candidate should be 16.5
to 19 years. 2.The candidate should be male
and unmarried. 3.The candidate should be 12th
passed from the recognized Board. 4.The
height of the candidate must be 157cm. .
5.Apart from Indian origin, Candidates from
other Countries can also appear for NDA.
For the same Candidate must either be an Indian
Citizen or a Citizen of Bhutan, Nepal
or Tibetan refugees who Came over to India
before 1962 are also eligible.

Stream Subjects are Crucial-
The subjects that candidates have selected in
their 12th class can help them to score well in
NDA written exam. Like chemistry and physics for
science students, history and political science
for Arts students and so on. The questions in
General ability paper are assembled from almost
all subjects form all stream of the 12th class.
So prepare your best subjects.
6 Current Affairs are Very Important-
The current affairs are the easiest thing to
wrap. But it need some serious efforts to prepare
and attempt. The candidates have to prepare the
current affairs of last 4-5 months with a
profound understanding of all major points.
Newspaper and Internet will play a very crucial
role To crack the NDA exam. Candidate must need
to update himself on current affairs as a very
important part of the exam. The key to be up to
date is reading newspaper everyday as a routine
and exploring internet for purposeful and latest
updates. Read all the important news from
internet and newspaper and make notes out of

7 Managing Your Time Properly-
Time management skill is of great help in
mathematics paper. Keep your one eye on the watch
and other on the paper. Manage your time for
every question you attempt, start from simple

for General ability and English is sufficient.

the pace maintained in mathematics paper. This

8 Avoid Negative Marking-
The UPSC exams consists of negative marking of
1/3 which makes it a little hard thing to score.
It is recommended that don't fool around with
questions that you are not sure about otherwise
you will end up decreasing your total marks. Do
not go for the wild guesses. Attempt only those
questions which are under the level of your
knowledge to reduce the fluctuation of your
score. The more you attempt wrong answers, the
less you score in the exam. Keep this in mind
before attempting the paper.
9Significance of solving Mock Tests and Previous
Year Papers-
- Mock tests are very beneficial as they
provides the feel of the real Exam. The previous
year papers and Mock tests can help the new
candidate in getting the idea of the types of
question he is going to face in real NDA written
