Introduction
Wooden doors have been used in our residential
and commercial buildings for centuries now. From
the very earliest settlements of humans in
various civilizations and geographical locations
wood was used as the primary means of door
materials. May it be internal doors or external
doors. Wood was considered the best choice. In
this presentation we will inform you about the
most basic reasons why wood has been able to
survive till now.

Abundant Supply
The most important reason why wood was used as
the main material for a door was the reason that
it was amply available. Very little process was
needed to shape the piece of wood to become a
useful functional main wooden door of the house.

The second most important reason is that wood was
available in many variations. Types of different
wood were not restricted to color or durability
only. The texture and the aroma of the wood was
also considered in the past.

Cost-Effective
Wooden doors are extremely cost effective.
However, there is no limit to the luxury it can
obtain when processed in that manner. Wood
remained the most accessible and economic door
material and this is the reason all social
classes used this material for their interior and
exterior doors alike.

Wood can be carved easily, it can adjust other
materials like glass and metal in itself easily.
Even before the 17th Century the doors were
carved into beautiful pieces of art and people
would just be amazed to witness them.

Another reason why wood has been able to survive
till now is that it can be fused easily with
other materials to enhance the features of
creativity and durability combined. Use of glass
or metal can lower the maintenance of the wooden
doors and keep them strong for decades.

founded Woodcraft Doors and Molding (WDM) after
immigrating into Canada over 20 years ago. Since

European master craftsman. After becoming a
