grow, so does the push and concern for
eco-friendly products and sustainability.
Research has shown that the key driver in the
cleaning industry is rising awareness for
workplace wellness and sustainability. In recent
years,

consumer mindset has shifted towards becoming
aware of the way consumer products impact
wellness and the environment, and the cleaning
industry is no exception. Another explanation of
why the key driver in the cleaning industry is
pushing towards workplace wellness and
sustainability is the increase of younger people,
particularly Millennials in the workplace.
Millennials are starting to be in charge of many
di?erent jobs, including the hiring. Because
Millennials are much more environmentally
conscious than the Baby Boomers they are
replacing, they are more concerned and
intentional about hiring cleaning companies in
their o?ice spaces that use green cleaning.
Green cleaning is cleaning that prioritizes
cleaning products that are natural and
eco-friendly. As a result, cleaning companies are
pushed to reevaluate and ?nd ways to make their
cleaning companies safer for the environment and
human health to appeal to the desires of these
companies. This demand for green cleaning has
not only pushed established companies to adapt
and come out with new products that are marketed
as natural and simple, but

created a major opportunity and incentive for new
brands to enter the industry. Many of these newer
brands emerged in the cleaning industry with the
intention of providing new, better alternatives
to traditional options such as aluminium-free
deodorant, plant-based detergent, non-toxic ?oor
cleaners, and reusable mop pads. As a result,
over the last ?ve years, the cleaning industry
has seen a dramatic increase of new products,
both online and in brick and mortar stores that
emphasis green cleaning and trend does not
appear to be going back any time soon.
