  • Babar Ali was born on 18th March 1993 in
    Murshidabad village of West Bengal.
  • He is the youngest head of the school who started
    his school at the age of nine only.

  • While on the way to his school Babar used to see
    the children playing and working in fields, he
    used to ask them if they want to study and he
    always got a Yes from these little kids.
  • Babar took this seriously and started teaching a
    total of eight children including his sister
    Amina Khatun.

  • In 2003, his school was officially inaugurated
    and was named Ananda Shiksha Niketan(House of
    Happy Learning).
  • He was also invited by Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen
    to Shantiniketan, the prestigious center of
    learning, to speak about his school.

  • Babar received the CNN IBN Real Hero Award from
    the actor Aamir Khan and was also recognized as
    Youngest Headmaster in the world by BBC at the
    age of sixteen only.
  • He was also featured in Amir Khans Popular show
    on TV, Satyameva Jayate.

  • Babar bought another land using his prize money
    from Real Hero award to expand his school.
  • Babar was also awarded the Indian of the Year
    award by the NDTV and Literary Hero Award, by
    Rotatory India Literacy Mission.

  • In 2013, he started another school with more
    space to accommodate more children. He also
    started buses for students to commute.
  • Babar also became a Ted Fellow, talking about his
    school at the Ted Talks in Mysore, Karnataka.

  • Babars story was incorporated by CBSE board in
    their syllabus for class 10th and Karnataka
    Government also included his story in their
    English book for the first-year PU course.
  • Now his afternoon school has 800 students, all
    from poor families, all taught for free. Most of
    the girls come here after working and boys after
    they finish their work laboring in the field.

  • He would also organize various activities like
    sports, dance and music to make school more fun
    for the students.
  • Babar never skipped going to his own school,
    since he replicated everything he learnt there in
    his own school.

  • Babar, who has completed his graduation in
    English, is now pursuing a Master of Arts degree.
  • Babar has indeed traveled a long way, but he has
    plans for the future too. He wants to create a
    dream school for kids from underprivileged
    backgrounds and give them facilities for free.
