from its colonial period. Due to this
availability of amenities, most popular cities in
Panama are the best choice of tourists across the

List of Best tourist cities of Panama
  • David
  • David is Panama's third-largest city and
capital of the Chiriqui province. David is the
capital of the Chiriquí province, and is the
closest city to the border of Costa Rica. The
popular tourist city is situated on a beautiful
coastal plain near the Costa Rican border and
allows easy access to the Bocas del Toro
archipelago. Several resorts, cattle farms and
a central city park are located here, while
popular events include an annual industrial fair
    and the Children's Day Festival.

4
  • Santiago
  • Santiago is located in the southern part of
Veraguas province and is its capital city.
Located on the Pan-American Highway, Santiago,
with a population of just over 100,000 people, is
the capital of the Veraguas province. Playa Santa
Catalina is the prime tourist spot in Santiago
thanks to its picturesque black sand beaches,
while the downtown area offers an abundance of
    authentic colonial buildings.

5
  • Chitre
  • Chitre, founded in 1848 and capital of the
Herrera province, is central to many other towns
such as Parita, Ocu and Santa Maria. Capital of
the Herrera province, and a hub for the Azuero
Peninsula, Chitre has a metropolitan population
of around 80,000 people. Visitors can enjoy the
Herrera Museum, detailing the history of the
area, as well as the hot springs of Cirugia
    National Park. The large English-speaking
population and a comfortable, easy-to-use public
transit system also make Chitre appealing to
    tourists.

6
  • Portobelo
  • A sleepy Caribbean seaside town that was
originally named Puerto Bello, which translates
to Beautiful Port, over time became what
is Portobelo today. Built by the Spanish to
protect their riches from the pirates in the 18th
century, Portobelo is a UNESCO World Heritage
Site with respect to the small towns big, rich
history. Often lost in the shuffle of larger,
more popular nearby Caribbean towns such as Colon
and Bocas del Toro, Portobelo offers a quaint
    paradise unlike any other.
