  • Papua New Guinea, in the southwestern
    Pacific, encompasses the eastern half of New
    Guinea and its offshore islands. A country of
    immense cultural and biological diversity, its
    known for its beaches and coral reefs. The
    country comprises about 600 small islands and has
    some 5,150 km of coastline only 13 per cent of
    people live in urban areas, the lowest proportion
    in the Commonwealth. Papua New Guinea has more
    than 800 indigenous languages, thought to be more
    than any other country in the world. The country
    comprises 22 provinces including the National
    Capital District (greater Port Moresby) and the
    Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

  • Lae is the capital of Morobe Province and is
    the second-largest city in Papua New Guinea. It
    is located near the delta of the Markham River
    and at the start of the Highlands Highway, which
    is the main land transport corridor between the
    Highlands region and the coast. Lae, port city,
    on the island of New Guinea, northeastern Papua
    New Guinea, southwestern Pacific Ocean.
    Commercial activities centre on the export of
    timber, plywood, and coffee.

  • Port Moresby is the sprawling capital of Papua
    New Guinea, a country north of Australia.  It is
    one of the biggest cities in Papua New Guinea.
    Port Moresby is the main point of entry into
    Papua New Guinea for air-traffic and most of the
    boat-traffic.  The city is on the shores of the
    Gulf of Papua. Its population is around 300,000
    and growing quickly. The indigenous people of the
    area are the Motu-Koitabu.

  • Mount Hagen is a city in the Western
    Highlands province of Papua New Guinea. Hagen was
    a fascinating and largely peaceful place to
    visit. . It is the capital of the Western
    Highlands Province and is located in the large
    fertile Wahgi Valley in central mainland Papua
    New Guinea. Mount Hagen is the third largest city
    in Papua New Guinea, with a population of 46,250.
    The capital city, Mt Hagen, is a bustling
    commercial centre where wealth from coffee and
    tea.

  • Wewak is the capital of the East Sepik province
    of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the six
    administrative districts that make up the
    province. Wewak, coastal town, island of New
    Guinea, northern Papua New Guinea, southwestern
    Pacific Ocean. Wewak is situated near the mouth
    of the Sepik River.  It has palm-lined beaches,
    but its main attractions for visitors are
    historic and cultural.
