• The imprints can even now be found in the present
  day. The Puerta de Alcalá is a landmark that, as
  its name recommends, was once one of the five
  entryways used to enter the walled city of Madrid
  when voyagers visited from France, Aragón, and
  Catalonia. The door, which estimates 19.5 meters
  tall, has five curves altogether with elaborate
  statues at the top made by design craftsmen
  Francisco Gutiérrez and Roberto Michel.

• The first Puerta de Alcalá, which stood close by,
  was worked in 1599 as an invite motion to doña
  Margarita de Austria, who was the spouse of King
  Felipe III. The new Puerta de Alcalá was finished
  in 1769 .These were crafted by famous craftsmen,
  Francisco Gutiérrez and Roberto Michel.
