2Motocross Tracks UK
- Were you aware that the motocross sport (or
scrambling as it was commonly known) was first
conceived in the UK? Yeah, that's right, here in
the land of tea and crumpets, one of the world's
most kick-ass, adrenalin-pumping motorsports has
been born. - Despite of that, the sport has a long, storied
past in this country and the tracks to go with
it. Nevertheless, several of our favorite riding
spots are under threat of closure given all that
history. So make sure that you help your local
facility by checking out some of the best
motocross tracks in the UK-then get out and ride
them!
3The most emblematic-Hawkstone Park
Nestled in a quiet corner of Shropshire, this
former Grand Prix circuit rose as the annual host
of the British Motocross Grand Prix during the
70s and 80s to world renown. Hawkstone Park was
immortalized in 1984 after Nick Haskell caught
Georges Jibes picture of THAT jumping over Andre
Malherbes head. The resulting poster of the
'Hawkstone bomb hole' covered bedroom walls
around the world and soon became the most popular
single image in the history of the sport.

4The most historic-Castle of Farleigh
The Farleigh Castle is said to be one of the
oldest circuits on the world, dating back to the
pre-war period. Named after the medieval castle
overlooking the circuit in Farleigh Hungerford's
quaint Somerset village, Farleigh Castle has been
a staple for decades in the British motocross
scene. Like Hawkstone Park, Farleigh Castle
has played for many years as host of the British
Motocross Grand Prix. In 1985, Dave Thorpe, the
most decorated motocross world champion in
History, famously wowed audiences at Farleigh
with a last-to-first comeback.

5Best installations Desertmartin
The finest in Northern Ireland, Desertmartin was
planned to host the extravaganza of modern day MX
Grand Prix. Which means the services that are on
sale are among the best out there. The track
itself is wide and fast, making for spectacular
racing more often than not. The sand-based
circuit is getting rough and tough, and is
sufficient to challenge the best riders in the
country. The scenic circuit frequently hosts
meetings of the British Championship, as well as
the British Youth Nationals and the Irish and
Ulster Motocross Championships of course. You
can't help but take a couple of pictures when you
arrive at Desertmartin for the very first
time-its a very damn special place.

6Canada Heights the Best Crowd
Due to its proximity to the nation's capital, the
crowds at Canada Heights are always large and
always noisy. Canada Heights is nestled in a
group of hillside woods just south of the
Dartford Bridge making it a very scenic spot for
a motocross track. The Heights has been, and
with a good reason, a frequent stop on the
British Motocross Championship circuit for many
years now. The combination of light sand and hard
pack pieces, as well as the major changes in
elevation and impressive jumps make Canada
Heights a great track for tight, bar-to-bar
racing.

7The toughest-Motopark Fatcat
The hardest circuit in the country definitely,
Fatcat Moorparks deep sands offer an atmosphere
unlike anything else in the UK. When you can beat
Fatcat, you can go anywhere you want. The
practice track's dark sands, rocks, and ruts make
for a difficult battle as you ride your laps
around the course. Fatcat also boasts a host of
excellent facilities including a tarmac go kart
circuit along with the two full-size motocross
tracks surprisingly the better of the two is
the practice track. Fatcat regularly holds
national-scale events, and is open every
Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday to general
practice. Located just off the M18 near
Doncaster, Fatcat is easy to get to and
definitely worth a visit.
