Title: Common Injuries In A Hike
1Common Injuries In A Hike
2Cuts
Cuts are the easiest form of injuries that take
place in hikes. They can probably be prevented by
being extremely cautious with each step, so that
you dont slip and fall on a hard/sharp object or
scrape through a sharp object while walking.
Emergency treatment at the time involves
disinfecting the wound and covering it with a
bandage or a bigger item to stop the bleeding
3Sprains
They usually take place on the foot, as a result
of uneven land. A few ways to prevent it, involve
extra precaution while walking on uneven ground,
walking/ climbing slowly, hiking poles
depending on the region and most importantly
hiking shoes that are sturdy. Treatment involves
icing it and rest. Even a gel for muscle pain,
helps
Dehydration
This isnt exactly an injury but dehydration can
result in fainting and fainting in the middle of
nowhere can be problematic. You start feeling
dehydrated when you lack energy, feel abnormally
thirsty, have a bad headache and even notice your
urine being darker than the normal color. You can
prevent it by drinking water at regular
intervals.
4Sunburn
This takes place as a result of sharp and heavy
rays from the sun. It is extremely important to
wear a hat or apply sunscreen on your face to
prevent it from happening. Treatment again
involves applying an ice-pack on the region and
applying after-sun remedies to increase the
cooling effect. Roll on pain relief oils are also
recommended.
Bug Bites
Bugs are almost everywhere and preventing bites
can be challenging. However, a few common ways
involve applying insect repellants and other
lotions. The treatment also involves, after-bite
lotions. Scratching the bit part is not at all
advisory as it only makes the wound worse.
