What is Obsessive compulsive?
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental
health condition where a person has obsessive
thoughts and compulsive activity. A obsession is
an unpleasant and undesirable thought, image or
urge that enters a person's mind, causing
feelings of unease, disgust or stress. A
compulsion is a psychological or persistent
behaviour act that somebody feels that they
should execute to attempt to temporarily
alleviate the unpleasant feelings brought on by
    the idea that is obsessive.

What Are The Main Factors Which Causes OCD?
  • Studies have also shown people with OCD have an
imbalance of serotonin in their mind. Serotonin
is a chemical the brain uses to transmit data
from 1 brain cell to another. In some cases the
condition may run in families, and may be linked
to specific inherited genes which influence the
    brain's development.

Static Of OCD Affecting UK People
  • Although problems may develop at any point, the
illness first begins to interfere with a
    individual's lifestyle through early adulthood.
It is estimated in every 1,000 people
approximately 12 in the UK are affected by the
status. This equates to nearly 750,000 people
  • How To Treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

7
The treatments for OCD are
  • Cognitive Behavioural Treatment (CBT) --
involving a therapy known as graded exposure with
response prevention (ERP), which encourages you
to confront your fear and Allow the obsessive
    thoughts happen without"neutralising" them with
    compulsions
  • Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs)
-- this medicine can help reduce your symptoms by
altering the balance of chemicals in your brain
