1. Arizona historically was part of Alta
California located in New Spain and became part
of independent Mexico in 1821. After Mexico was
defeated most of its territory seceded to the US
territory in 1848 while the southernmost part of
the city was acquired in 1853. 2. The
southern part of Arizona experiences desert type

winters are mild. Northern Arizona witnesses a
