Title: Everything You Need to Know About Common Roadside Emergencies
1Everything You Need to Know About Common Roadside
Emergencies
2One must always be careful while on the road, as
you never know when you might get stuck along the
side of the road because of car trouble. Roadside
emergencies can happen at any time- it could be a
flat tire, dead battery or overheating engine-
either way it certainly can lead to panic if you
are not prepared for them. If not dealt with
properly, roadside emergencies can turn into
fatal accidents.
3Its advised that you prepare ahead of time for
the most common roadside emergencies, that way,
youll know what exactly to do if your vehicle
ever sputters to a stop or if your tire blows out
on the highway or something else. Follow these
instructions to have much more of an idea of what
to do if any of these emergencies were to happen
to you
4Changing a flat tire- This is one of the most
common roadside emergencies. It could be due to a
leaking valve, a thing that the tire ran over, or
a sudden blowout on the road. It is advised that
you keep a well-functioning spare wheel and a
jack in the trunk.
Overheated engine- If you have an overheated
engine (which you can very easily tell as you see
smokes starting to flood out from under the
hood), turn it off right away. First and
foremost, open your car bonnet to cool the engine
down. Check the engine oil levels and the coolant
levels. If there is a leak, youll need to take
your car to an experienced mechanic for repairs.
5Other common roadside emergencies include 1.
Running out of gas 2. Cracked windshield 3.
Locked out of your car 4. Car accidents (due to
mechanical issues related to the engine,
transmission or brakes) 5. Bogged vehicle
Dead battery- Battery failure is one of the most
common incidents. Besides keeping the radio and
the air conditioning turned on when the car is
not moving being a major reason for the cars
battery getting drained, other reasons for a dead
battery include low maintenance, not starting
your vehicle for long periods of time, and not
keeping the terminals of battery clean.
6The key is to having the right tools and
knowledge to face and overcome a roadside
emergency efficiently. Build a simple vehicle
emergency kit containing items like flashlight,
first aid kit, jump cables, universal lug wrench,
antifreeze/coolant, engine oil, spare tire, tire
jack, tire pressure gauge, note pad and pen,
gloves, owner manual, food and water, folding
emergency safety triangle, and a blanket.
