How to Calibrate Weighing Scale
2
  • Weighing scales are a part of diverse industrial
    functions. Industrial weighing scales are
repeatedly subjected to heavy loading and
    unloading.
  • So, even if you own the most advanced
    professional-grade weighing scale, regular
maintenance and calibration will still be needed
to improve scales reliability for weight
    measurement.
  • What is calibration?
  • Calibration is a process by which a certified
technician use known weights or a reference
weight to adjust weighing scales response,
    whether calibrating mechanical or electronic
    scales.

3
  • Under the procedure weighing instrument must
indicate an exact zero when it is not subjected
    to any loading.
  • Additionally, an error is calculated by obtaining
a difference between measured value and reference
weight. As a result, the scale is considered as
fit to use when it produces output results with
negligible error and within specified tolerance
    limits
  • Weighing Scale Calibration
  • Start with preparing the weighing instrument for
calibration. Clean it properly, remove any traces
of oil or dirt. If you are using digital weighing
scales, turn them on few minutes before
    performing a calibration procedure.

4
  • Modern scales come with calibration mode or
calibration setting button. Press the button and
    initiate the calibration mode.
  • Make sure your weighing instrument stands on firm
footings it must not wobble or feel unbalanced.
  • Use calibration kit that or reference weight that
is provided with the weighing scale at the time
of purchase. Take measurement of reference weight
    and complete calibration cycle.
  • If you are not confident about performing
calibration at your facility or you do not
possess required equipment, you can opt for third
party calibration services available in your area.
