10 steps to create questionnaire for
dissertation
2
  • A questionnaire is a method for gathering data in
which a respondent gives answers to a certain
number of questions. To develop a questionnaire
that will collect the data you have to put effort
and time. But, by taking this approach you will
be able to develop a questionnaire, you can have
an effective way to collect data that will answer
    your exclusive dissertation question. (BBGV71120)
  • Designing Your Questionnaire Identify what types
of information you want to collect with the help
of your questionnaire and understand your aim of
    collection questionnaire. Develop dissertation
    questions, the collection of questionnaires
should be the central point focus on that.
  • Develop a single or much theory that you want to
check The questions that you compromise on your
questionnaire should be designed at methodically
    testing this theory/dissertation.
  • Choose your question type or types Depending on
your dissertation there are different possible
questions which can be included in your
questionnaire each question will have its pros
    and cons.
  • Yes or no questions this question will have
answers as yes or no means someone will agree
or disagree it is a question which can be
analysed very quickly, but it is not that
    effective a measure.
  • Open-ended questions these questions permit the
respondent to react in their own words. They can
be helpful to get insight into the opinion of the
respondent, but can be challenging when it comes
to scrutiny of data. It is suggested to utilize
open-ended questions to tackle the issue of why.

3
  • Multiple choice questions These types of
questions are having three or more
mutually-exclusive categories and ask for a solo
answer or numerous answers. Numerous choice
questions permit for simple scrutiny of results,
but may not provide the respondent the reply they
    want.
  • Rank-order scale questions in this type of
questions the respondent is asked to respond to
choose an item in particular order. You may ask
respondents to order five things from least two
most important. These kind of questions forces
discrimination among option, but does not tackle
the issue of why the respondent made these
    discriminations.
  • Rating scale questions This type of topic
permits the respondent to evaluate a particular
issue based on a certain dimension. You can
propose a scale that gives an equal number of
correct and wrong options, means they may
strongly agree or strongly disagree these
question are very much flexible but do not
    answer the question why
  • Clear Questionnaire These questions that you
develop for your questionnaire must be clear,
brief, and shortest. This will make sure that you
acquire the best probable answers from your
    respondents.
  • Simple Questions Write questions which are
precise and easy to understand, don't write
complex questions which will confuse the
respondent and if they are technical or not in
easy language it will confuse your respondent
    and lead to incorrect reply.

4
  • Ask only one question at a time This will help
avoid confusion Make sure not to include i
dont know or its not applicable this will
help your respondent not to answer certain type
of question which will not help you to develop
the data properly because of using this kind of
term your data will be missing which will
bother you while creating data analysis.
  • Add Important Questions Make sure that you add
very important questions in the starting of your
questionnaire. This will help you collect
important data even if you think that your
respondents may be unfocused when you are coming
to the end of the questionnaire.
  •
  • If you follow the following steps while
developing a questionnaire that will help you to
create a proper questionnaire and you will be
able to develop a questionnaire for your
    dissertation.
