2Have you ever had to go with your gut to make a
decision? Do certain moments or people make you
feel off? Have you ever felt butterflies in
your stomach? Theres a perfectly good
explanation as to why!
The Brain/Gut Connection Hidden in the walls of
your digestive system is the brain in your gut.
Scientists call this little brain the Enteric
Nervous System (ENS). It is revolutionizing the
understanding of the links between digestion,
mood, health and even the way you think! The ENS
is two thin layers of more than 100 million
nerve cells lining your gastrointestinal tract
from esophagus to rectum! The brain also has a
direct effect on the stomach and intestines. For
example, the very thought of eating can release
the stomachs juices before food gets there. The
connection goes both ways!

3What does your Guts Brain control? The Guts
Brain main role is controlling digestion. From
swallowing, to the release of enzymes that break
down food, to the control of blood flow that
helps with nutrient absorption to elimination.
The ENS doesnt seem capable of thought, but it
communicates back and forth with our brain with
amazing results! It may trigger big emotional
shifts in people coping with IBS, constipation,
diarrhea, bloating, pain, and stomach upset. For
decades researchers and doctors thought that
anxiety and depression contributed to these
problems, but now studies show that it may also
be the other way around. Researchers are finding
evidence that irritation in the gastrointestinal
system may send signals to the central nervous
system (CNS) that trigger mood changes. Understa
nding your Gut Health Our two brains talk to
each other, so therapies that help one may help
the other. Have you heard the saying We are
what we eat, or Food is a drug? Diet, water
intake, and exercise are now being investigated
more before prescribing antidepressants for
mental health. More mental health practitioners
and therapists are being recommended to help
with gut health over prescriptions, or over the
counter drugs. Even as simple as knowing your
blood type could help eliminate problematic foods
that trigger gut problems. Research shows
certain foods affect your gut due to your blood
type, and is being used as an avenue of gut
health relief! What can you do to help your
Gut/Brain connection? 1. Eat healthy! What you
put in you affects you mentally, physically, and
emotionally. When you put fast food and
processed food into you constantly, it will make
you feel sluggish, tired, unmotivated, and even
depressed.

4- Drink your water! Water helps filter and flush so
many toxins that we have in our bodies. When our
body doesnt receive enough water, the first
place it pulls water from is the gut! Without
water our second Brain cant function or think
properly - Exercise! Without movement, theres no movement
(down there). Pretty simple! - What we put in our bodies we receive out of it.
Like a savings account the more we put into it,
we will see and receive. Asking questions, doing
your research, and investing your health is the
best thing youll thank yourself for down the
road!
