Title: Quick & Easy Wood Floor Repair

1
Quick Easy Wood Floor Repair
2
Step 1 Dig Out the Damage
Floor repairing is a not difficult task and can
be taken as a DIY project. You can use a chisel
or awl and slowly dig out the damaged portion.
Dig until you are getting the hard sound of the
wood. However, there is no requirement of getting
a clean patch. Even if the area is of random
shape, it will not be a big matter. It is better
to let the floor to guide you about how much to
remove.
3
Step 2 Tape Around the Patch
You need to fill the gap with the epoxy, so you
require to tape off the edge while doing
refinishing service in Sherman Oaks to ensure
that the patch you are placing will not get
affected. If you have the blue painters tape,
then nothing can be better than this. However,
dont try to use something hard, as the strong
adhesive may pull off the finish of the
surrounding planks.
4
Step 3 Fill with Epoxy
If you are patching a wide section, it is better
to go for the epoxy. However, for small areas,
you can try something else also. However, if
these are not available in your area, you can try
to fill them with different wood fillers. Press
the fillers into the patch strongly along with a
little overfilling. During the sanding, it will
be cured. Pull the tape off from the floor once
the patch is filled.
5
Step 4 Sand Stain
After the epoxy filler got dry, remove the tape
and prepare the floor for sanding. You need to
sand the patch smoothly to bring it to the level
of the floorboards. Avoid using the sandpaper on
the surrounding finish. Try to sand only the
epoxy patch, else you need to do more later.
Finally, clean the dust by wiping it.
6
Step 5 Draw the Grain
You need to draw the grain on the patch as it is
not a part of the wood. Be careful about this.
You can try a sharpie or an artists brush.
However, if you dont feel comfortable, it is
better to go for professional wood floor repair,
as they can do the job in a refined manner.
7
Step 6 Coat with Finish
The last step is to coat the patch with a
polyurethane. However, apply the polyurethane,
when all the things got dry. It will protect the
patch by sealing it from every side. Only apply
the polyurethane coat on the patched area and not
the surrounding boards.
