- The log statistics for a users web server are
compiled by these software applications. cPanel
WHM includes three statistics generators. These
are- Analog, AWStats, Webalizer. A servers web
statistics and software can be managed by server
administrators in the Statistics Software
Configuration interface in WHM by following the
path, WHM -gt Home -gt Server Configuration -gt
Statistics Software Configuration.
4 Globally Unique
Identifier (GUID)
- It refers to the value that is used by the system
to identify a resource. It is somewhat similar to
UUID, which is a more common identifier. GUID is
mainly used by Microsoft products. - To digress, a website hosting company provides

6 Graceful Reboot
It is the method that is meant to store new

server. It is the preferred way for restarting a
users server. Such a reboot is the opposite of a
forceful reboot. WHM interface allows graceful
reboots to be performed.
7 Greylisting
It is the service that ensures a servers
protection against spam or unwanted email. When
this feature has been enabled, any email that
originates from a sender that the server cant
recognize is rejected temporarily by that mail
server. It can be enabled by using the
Greylisting interface in WHM, by clicking on
WHM -gt Home -gt Email -gt Greylisting. In the event
that the email is licit, the server from which it
originated tries to resend it after some delay.
The server accepts the email, post a sufficient
lapse of time.

9 Gzip
It is a program. It is used to compresses files,
so that disk space can be conserved. The .gz file
extension is used by the compressed files. It
reduces transfer times to a minimum.
Additionally, it makes it easy to transfer
multiple files. Gzip is often used with the tar
command by Unix and Linux systems, in order to
create a tarball file. Here the .tar.gz file
extension is used. A systems gzip compression
level can be set in the Tweak Settings interface
in WHM, by clicking on WHM -gt Home -gt Server
Configuration -gt Tweak Settings.
10 .Htaccess
It is a file that is present in a specific
directory. It contains the configuration
information of the directory. Such a file might
have authentication instructions in it. In the
context of websites, its files are stored on the
server space that is leased by website hosting
companies. Terms that indicate a website hosting

11 .Htpasswd
It refers to a file that exists in a specific
directory where an .htaccess file is also
present. An .htpasswd file has encrypted

It refers to a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
(SMTP) command. It is sent by an email server or
client in order to identify itself at the time
when it connects with some other email server.
This command begins the process where an email is

name being sent. This command is usually used by
older email clients. That is because such clients
do not need service extensions.
13 Home Directory
It refers to the highest-level directory of a
cPanel account. It has all the files and
directories that are used by the accounts
websites. The files in a home directory cannot be
viewed by the visitors until these exist in the
public_html directory or in one of its
subdirectories.
14 Horde Webmail
It is a webmail client in cPanel WHM. With its
aid users can check emails through a browser.
Horde can be used in the Webmail interface in
cPanel. Custom Horde data behavior is included in
cPanel WHM.
15 Hostname
It refers to a servers human-recognizable name
across the Internet. It is unique. The server
hostname is distinct from the users domain
name. A servers hostname can be specified or
changed by system administrators in the Change
Hostname interface in WHM, by clicking on WHM -gt
Home -gt Networking Setup -gt Change Hostname.
16 Hotlink (Inline
Link)
It is that direct link which embeds a file (a
video or an image) from a users site into
another website. In the event that another site
embeds a users files, the users bandwidth is
used by it to serve those files. Hotlinking can
be prevented by accessing the Hotlink
Protection interface in cPanel, by clicking on
cPanel -gt Home -gt Security -gt Hotlink Protection.
