ICQ
  • It refers to an instant messaging service that
serves the purpose of receiving updates from
ones server. Such notifications can be
configured in the Contact Manager interface in
cPanel, by clicking on WHM -gt Home -gt Server
    Contacts -gt Contact Manager.
  • With regard to servers, let us briefly touch upon
web hosting, where server space is leased by web
hosting companies to store the files of websites.
These companies also provide the services and the
technology that are required by websites to be
accessible online. Certain terms are frequently
used to refer to web hosting service providers,
such as, the Best Website Hosting Company or
the Best Cloud Hosting Company or even the
Best Windows Hosting Company in India

4

Identity Provider
  • It indicates third-party authority that is meant
to provide external authentication to other
services as well as sites to log in. External
Authentication modules can be used by third-party
    developers. External Authentication can be
    configured in the Manage External
Authentications interface in WHM. The path to do
so is, WHM -gt Home -gt Security Center -gt Manage
    External Authentications.

5

Include (file)
  • It refers to that file which is added
automatically within another file, by a program.
Custom content can be added by such files to the
header or footer of the cPanel interface.
  •  Include command can be used by the server
administrators in order to add specifications to
the file that relates to Apache configuration.
    Alternatively, the Apache Configuration
interface in WHM can be used by clicking on, WHM
-gt Home -gt Service Configuration -gt Apache
    Configuration.

6

Index Page
  • It refers to the default page that is viewed by
the visitors upon accessing a website directory.
This default page is usually, index.html or
    index.htm or index.php.
  • In the event that no index page is available for
a specific directory, the visitor is shown a list
of files in that directory. This happens unless
indexing is disabled in the Indexes interface
in cPanel. It can be done by clicking on cPanel
-gt Home -gt Advanced -gt Indexes.

Internet Message
Access Protocol (IMAP)
It refers to one of the 2 most extensively used
methods for email transfer. Email account
information is synchronized regularly with the
mail server by IMAP. When multiple devices are
used by a user to check emails, it is IMAP that
lets the user know the messages that have been
viewed by him and replied to and/or forwarded.

Internet Protocol (IP)
It indicates the main protocol that transmits
information across the Internet. IP addresses are
used by this protocol to serve the purpose of
delivering information from one host to
another.  2 versions of Internet Protocol are
supported by cPanel WHM. One of those is IPv4
which is an older but more popular and accessible
version. It uses 32-bit IP addresses. The
availability of this version is limited. The
other one is IPv6 which is a newer version. It
uses 128-bit IP addresses. A vast number of
addresses are available in this version. An
IPv6-enabled network and server are needed by it.
10

Internet Protocol (IP) Address
It refers to a certain identification number for
a computer on a network. This enables other
computers to find it and then initiate
communication with it. Add a New IP Address
interface in WHM can be used to add new IP
addresses to a users existing pool of IP
addresses. It can be done by clicking on, WHM -gt
Home -gt IP Functions -gt Add a New IP Address.
11

Internet Relay Chat
(IRC)
It is an application layer protocol that has to
do with real-time online communication. It
ensures that group discussions as well as
one-to-one messaging can take place, along with
data transfer. Custom modules can be created by
third-party developers in order to send
notifications that are meant for IRC and other
services.
12

iptables
It refers to a user space utility program. It
enables the configuration of Linux kernel
firewall data tables. This configuration is done
by server administrators.
13

Jailed Shell
It is a Common Line Interface (CLI) configuration
that is meant to restrict a users access rights.
Shell sessions are limited by the system to a
filesystem which doesnt have the home
directories of the other users of cPanel who are
on the system. VirtFS is used by cPanel WHM to
provide jailshell access. Custom jailed shell
mounts can be created to let users have
additional access.
14

Java
It is a computer programming language that is
used by many web applications.
15

JavaScript Object
Notation (JSON)
It refers to a file format in which
human-readable text is used to store as well as
exchange data. It has data objects in array data
types and in attribute-value pairs. JSON is used
by cpanel WHM for API output and for some data
storage that is internal. Many basic variables
can be used for the sorting of API output in JSON.
16

Kernel
It is the central component of the operating
system of a server. The kernel serves the purpose
of managing communications between the user and
the resources of a server (processor, memory
etc.).
17

Key
Keys are meant for the purpose of encrypting or
decrypting information. Keys have an important
function in ensuring security. Hence, these need
to be guarded properly.
18

Known
Netblock
It is a class C address space. It has an address
that has been used by a user to log in
successfully. The settings for known netblocks
can be configured in the Greylisting interface
in WHM, by clicking on WHM -gt Home -gt Email -gt
Greylisting.
