Title: Small flocks and basic biosecurity on poultry farms
1Small flocks and basic biosecurity on poultry
farms
2Small flocks mean a group of birds raised in
small but organized poultry. Biosecurity is a
very important task that must be carried out
daily like cleaning, medication for broilers and
Vaccination for chicken, which reduces early
chicken mortality. To keep the poultry clean and
wash it properly and daily is the responsibility
of poultry producers. Biosecurity is also one of
the main responsibilities of an owner of a
poultry farm. Biosecurity must be carried out in
each poultry mandatorily and the Authorities must
undertake strict follow-ups and Unrestricted
support. Poultry owners should support the
authorities and Fundamentally carry out these
processes. Whatever the size of poultry is and
the Number of birds that are being taken care of,
all the chicks must be kept under the vigil of a
caretaker and Biosecurity must be done on time
and properly by keeping the ethical point of view
about society and the environment. Biosecurity on
poultry farm prevents humans from falling sick
and Chickens from spreading viruses and getting
any diseases or infections. Basic measures of
biosecurity are cleaning, washing, and Sanitizing
the poultry and all birds properly, especially
small flocks because they are weak, small in age,
and with a weak immune system.
3Some operational biosecurity measures are proper
decontamination and disinfection of equipment,
poultry area, and the chicken coop. All the
workers or people who are around flocks should be
mandatorily made to use clean clothes, sanitized,
avoid touching the chicken without reason and
wear a mask in poultry to avoid
cross-contamination between humans and Chickens.
The people in charge of Poultry management should
maintain a record of visitors and their purpose.
Poultry farms should not allow visitors or
workers inside poultry with outside boots.
Instead, they should keep special sanitized boots
and jackets with pants which are used only inside
the farm. Litter, feathers, carcasses, and manure
should be cleaned every 12 hours to keep the
hygiene at its best level. The main objective of
biosecurity is to prevent the entry of disease
and control the spread of disease. This was the
basic information about biosecurity for the small
flock and adult chickens.
