• What strikes your mind, when you hear the term
  library? Well, library is the assemblage that
  accommodates books, newspapers, magazines,
  periodicals, documents and so forth. These
  collections cover widely in size upto millions of
  items, including humans. Human library
  encompasses human beings as books. Shocked? All
  have heard of digital library and audio library,
  but not of human library.

• The Human Library is an international
  organisation inspired by the American Stop the
  Violence Movement. Its main objective was to
  address people who have gone through a great deal
  of prejudices and stigmatization that often leads
  to social exclusion. Like books, real humans are
  borrowed in human library by readers. It intends
  to mould ones personality through informal
  chatting with the people mentioned above. The
  Hindu newspaper refers people as living books in
  Human Library. In India, it is seen in Delhi,
  Surat, Hyderabad and Bengaluru

• The society we live in is so fussy and merciless.
  We share a common tendency to judge people from
  different backgrounds for we have certain
  preconceived notions regarding certain
  communities and group of individuals. They
  include the people who suffer from down syndrome,
  facial disfigurement, autism, post-traumatic sex
  disorder, transgender, lesbians, gays, refugees,
  alcoholics, unemployed to name a few. Unless
  someone takes an initiative to help these people,
  the illness will continue to tyrannise their
  emotions. They are published as open books in
  human library. All that take place is the
  therapeutic and non-judgmental exchange of
  knowledge.
