What is POD Model?
Print on Demand (POD) is a printing mode where
you can print as per your requirement. Contrary
to bulk printing, the POD model is supported by
high-end digital printers. This enables the
printing of a few copies and helps in offering a
personalized service. Most of the self-published
authors chose to go for this economically viable
printing option as the burden of getting
thousands of copies printed and selling them gets
easily nullified.

What are the benefits of POD Model?
In the POD model digital printing technology is
used where each copy is printed independently and
the number of copies in order does not influence
the cost of each copy unlike in the offset
printing mode where the bulk printing is an
obligation as far as the cost is concerned. In
offset printing mode a plate is used for
transferring the impression to each page. But the
cost of creating the plate is quite high and
hence, the per copy cost for printing gets
reduced when the cost is distributed among each
copy. On the other hand, in case of POD model,
there is no such restriction on the number of
copies which gives author-publishers freedom and
ease with printing and opens a world of new
possibilities.
