Cloud-based Solutions
  • A Cloud-based solution (cloud) refers to an
on-demand delivery of computing resources that
can be accessed through the Internet and through
the shared cloud computing infrastructure of
another provider. It provides access to many
resources (storage space, networks, software and
    applications and other on-demand services).
  • Cloud-based solutions benefits include increased
scalability and functionality as well as a
reduction in cost that has to do with computer
infrastructure, maintenance and in keeping and
training an in-house IT staff. It helps companies
to focus on their core business.
  • There are 3 categories of Cloud pricing models,
which are usually offered as a pay-as-you-go
    subscription. These are-
  • Servers in the cloud
  • Applications/sites in the cloud
  • Storage in the cloud

Cloud
Deployment Models
  • YELLOW
  • Cloud deployment models refer to the types of
cloud environment, which can be public, private
or hybrid clouds. Businesses can opt for any of
    these, depending on their particular
requirements. These will be discussed in more
    detail in the following slides.
  • To digress, the term cloud brings to mind cloud
hosting, which is one of the types of web hosting
service and is provided by web hosting companies.
The other types of hosting services can be
shared, dedicated, VPS, reseller, WordPress etc.
The best companies in the hosting business are
often referred to as the Best Website Hosting
Company, the Best Windows Hosting Company or
as the Top Cloud Hosting Company.

5
Public
Cloud
  • An outsourced cloud provider owns a public cloud.
It can be accessed by many businesses via the
Internet. It helps organizations save money with
regard to IT operational costs, by providing the
necessary services and infrastructure. In it, the
cloud provider is responsible for resources
creation and maintenance. It is usually the small
and medium-sized businesses that have budget
constraints which find public clouds an ideal
    option.

6

Advantages and Disadvantages of Public
Cloud
  • YELLOW
  • Advantages
  • Cost-effective
  • Extremely reliable
  • Easy to manage
  • Easy to scale
  • Geographical restrictions dont exist
  • Disadvantage
  • It isnt the safest option with regard to data
    that is sensitive

Private Cloud
A private cloud offers services to a selected
group of users rather than to the general public,
either over the Internet or over an internal
network that is private. This type of cloud
deployment model can be hosted externally with
regard to the business using it, or it can be
managed in-house. A more controlled environment
is offered by it. In it the access to IT
resources is more centralized. Private clouds
offer more security and privacy. Despite being
expensive, it provides greater autonomy with
regard to customizing storage as well as
networking, to suit the IT requirements of a
business. Since it is an organizations IT staff
that is responsible for managing a private cloud,
it calls for the same staffing as well as
expenses for maintenance and management that is
required by a data center.
9
Advantages and Disadvantages of Private
Cloud
Advantages Greater security Better control over
the server Can be customized Disadvantages Accessi
ng data from remote locations is difficult IT
expertise is required
10

Hybrid Cloud
  • YELLOW
  • A hybrid cloud deployment model provides the
benefits of both, a public and a private cloud.
In it a private cloud is combined with one or
more public cloud services by using proprietary
    software that enables communication among
distinct services. Greater flexibility is gained
by businesses when they use a hybrid cloud
strategy. This is accomplished by shifting
workloads among cloud solutions depending on the
    fluctuations in costs and requirements.
  • Hybrid cloud services enable businesses to have
more control over their private data. A business
can store its sensitive data on a private cloud
and utilize the powerful computational resources
of a public cloud. In a hybrid cloud, admins
dont need to manage each cloud environment
separately which is the case in a multi-cloud
    environment.

11

Advantages and Disadvantages of Hybrid
Cloud
  • YELLOW
  • Advantages
  • Extremely flexible and scalable
  • More secure
  • Cost-effective
  • Disadvantage
  • Conflicted communication at network level

12

Cloud Service Models
  • YELLOW
  • Cloud service models are of three types, which
are distinctly different from each other, but
these are capable of interacting with each other
to form a comprehensive cloud service model.
These three types of cloud service models are
    mentioned below.
  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Software as a Service (SaaS)

13

Infrastructure as Service
(IaaS)
  • YELLOW
  • IaaS is the most common type of cloud service
model. It provides a fundamental infrastructure
that includes data storage drives, virtual
servers, operating systems and network. It offers
the reliability, scalability and the flexibility
that a cloud environment is known to provide to
businesses. Moreover, it eliminates the need to
maintain hardware in a companys office. It is an
outsourced service that is available as a
private, public or as a hybrid infrastructure.
  • It is an ideal option for small and medium-sized
organizations that are looking for an IT solution
which supports their business and is
    cost-effective.

14

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
  • YELLOW
  • PaaS involves deployment of the infrastructure
and software framework by the cloud computing
providers and lets businesses develop as well as
run their own applications. PaaS aids in creating
web applications easily and quickly. Moreover,
the service is sufficiently powerful and flexible
    to support these.
  • These scalable solutions are ideal for situations
where multiple developers are working on one
project as well as for such situations which
require an existing data source to be leveraged.

15

Software as a Service
(SaaS)
  • YELLOW
  • In SaaS software is deployed to various
businesses over the Internet. It serves as an
important tool for applications that require a
substantial amount of web or mobile access and is
an ideal option for short-term projects. Since
SaaS is managed from a central location,
businesses dont need to worry about its
    maintenance.
