How Many Germs Are Lurking in Your Bathroom?
2
  • As most of us already know, bathrooms can play
host to a veritable bevy of bacteria and germs,
but you might be surprised to learn just how many
might be breeding in your bathroom as you read
    this!
  • Lets take a closer look at some of the most
popular germ ridden areas of the average
    bathroom
  • The toilet
  • Up to 3.2 million bacteria per square inch have
been found in household toilets during research,
and the seat is covered in as many as 295
bacteria per square inch. Then theres the flush
handle! Playing host to as many as 83 bacteria
per square inch, this should be a timely reminder
that you should wash your hands after going to
the toilet, and definitely before leaving the
    bathroom!

3
  • Toothbrushes
  • Containing a minimum of 200,000 bacteria per
square inch, toothbrushes can be more harmful
than a toilet seat, so its important that you
allow them to dry out after use, and ideally,
keep them in a cabinet so they cant absorb any
germs flying around in the air.
  • The tub
  • Many people already prefer to use a shower for
hygiene purposes, and with the average tub drain
plug containing as much as 120,000 bacteria per
square inch, its easy to see why! Clean your tub
    and the drain often.

4
  • Tile grouting
  • Mold and bacteria can quickly grow on the
grouting between the tiles, especially in a damp
environment such as a bathroom, so clean them
every couple of months (or when you see them
    beginning to discolor) with bleach.
  • Airborne bacteria
  • Every time the toilet is flushed with the seat
up, bacteria are sent flying around the room, and
quickly settle on surfaces and objects in its
path. The best way to prevent this from happening
is to keep the seat down when you flush, but
regularly cleaning all surfaces is never a bad
    habit to get into.

5
  • Faucets
  • These are touched before and after hands are
washed, and germs are easily transferred onto
them, and then back onto your hands. Try to clean
them regularly, as they can contain up to 6,267
    bacteria per square inch!
  • Light switch
  • Frequently touched, much less frequently cleaned,
light switches in the average bathroom are
positively riddled with germs, and should be
cleaned just as often as the faucets, flush and
    surfaces.

6
  • Bathroom are used often, and have the potential
to harbor a lot of harmful bacteria if not
sanitized often enough. One way of ensuring that
your bathroom gets the attention it needs, when
it needs it, is to hire a professional cleaning
company. With flexible plans and budgets, theres
bound to be a cleaning service to suit your
needs, so why not give it a try and wave goodbye
to bacteria filled bathrooms, for good!
