What is Proton Therapy?
Proton therapy is also known as proton beam
therapy. its a radiation therapy. It uses
proton to treat cancer. A positively charged
particle is used in this therapy. These proton
kills cancer cell. Doctors can use proton therapy
alone for the treatment or they can also combine
it with x-ray radiation therapy, surgery,
chemotherapy, and immunotherapy It is like a
external beam therapy. It passes through the skin
painlessly from a machine

Central nervous system cancers, including
chordoma, chondrosarcoma, and malignant
meningioma
Eye cancer, including uveal melanoma or
choroidal melanoma
Head and neck cancers, including nasal cavity

R Compared with X-ray radiation therapy, proton
therapy has the following advantages Generally,
it can reduce up to 60 of the radiation being
transmitted to the healthy tissues surrounding
the tumor. This reduces the risk of radiation
damage to these tissues. It can allow a higher
radiation dose to the tumor. This increases the
chance that all tumor cells targeted by proton
therapy will be destroyed. During and after
treatment, it may cause fewer and fewer serious
side effects, such as low blood counts, fatigue
and nausea.
